In the 44 year history of the Busch Light Clash there have been a total of 25 different winners; but no name appears more than any other with a total of eight Earnhardts – six by Dale Earnhardt Sr and two for Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Since 1979 the NASCAR racing season has begun with the running of the Bush Light Clash.  The first Clash ran in 1979 with Buddy Bakes taking the checkered flag.

For many years only drivers who had won a pole in the previous year, past champions, and previous race winners were qualified to run the race.  In recent years, NASCAR has opened the race to any full time driver with the field pared down by heat races.
