In a report that is eerily familiar to the announcement of Freddie Mercury’s death, the rock band Modest Mouse announced the death of original band member and drummer Jeremiah Green on December 30, 2022 as a result of cancer at the age of 45.
It was revealed just a few days ago that Green was battling with the disease. In 1991, Queen revealed that lead singer and founder Freddie Mercury as battling AIDS and 24 hours later had to announce the singer’s death.
In a statement released on social media by the band, “today we lost our dear friend Jeremiah. He laid down to rest and simply faded out. Please appreciate all the love you give, get, have given, and will get. Above all, Jeremiah was about love.”
From the American northwest, Modest Mouse took their name from a Virginia Woolf who referred to everyday individuals as “modest mouse-coloured people.”
Still in his teens, Green joined Isaac Brock and Eric Judy to form the band and released their debut album – “This is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About” – in 1996; but it took until their fourth album to break into mainstream success. The band’s most recent album released in 2021 is titled “The Golden Casket”.
Recently celebrating 25 years of making music, Green has made a couple of brief departures from the band.
Green as also played with Satisfact, Red Star Theory, Vells, and Psychic Emperor.
No list of survivors was given.
