As 2022 nears an end, NASCAR teams continue to sign drivers as they work to complete their teams before the season gets underway in February.
Silly Season updates…
Alpha Prime Racing has chosen to run three cars in 2023 and has named Ryan Ellis as the driver for the number 43 car for at least 24 of the 33 Xfinity Series races beginning with the race at Daytona on February 18. APR will name the remaining driver at a later date.
Brett Moffitt is moving from Our Motorsports to run the full season with AM Racing in the number 25 car.
Going full time in the 2023 season, AM Racing is switching car manufacturers from a Chevrolet to a Ford and has a technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing. SHR is also providing AMR with the cars.
Moffitt spoke on joining AM Racing saying, “I am beyond excited about this next chapter in my career. Wade (Moore), Kevin (Cywinski) and the entire AM Racing team are putting the pieces together to make sure that we not only have a team that can run up front but win races in 2023.”
After catching a ride anywhere he could last season, Kaz Grala has signed to drive the number 26 car full time for Sam Hunt Racing. Previously Sam Hunt Racing has run only part time seasons; this marks the first time in the team’s three year history that they will run a full season with Kaz Grala.
Conor Mosack will be driving the number 24 car on a part time basis.
Grala spoke on his finally getting a full time ride saying, “I’ve thought about this for years, and each year, wanted this to fall in place for me and it finally has. I feel like the trials and tribulations over the last few years have really made me appreciate this sport, how difficult it is and how important it is to me – how passionate I am about it.”
In the Craftsman Truck Series, McAnally Hilgemann Racing has signed Christian Eckes and Jake Garcia to drive for the team.
At just 17 years old, Garcia will not be able to race on any track over 1.25 miles until he reaches the age of 18. His first race of the 2023 season will be at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 3…which also happens to be his 18th birthday.
Christian Eckes will be driving the number 19 truck with Garcia taking on the driving duties of the number 35 truck.
