On the first weekend of December, racers from all forms of racing series gathered in the panhandle of Florida at Five Flag Speedway in Pensacola for the annual Snowball Derby. Among the list of over 50 drivers were a number of drivers from all three of the racing series in NASCAR.
On Sunday afternoon 36 of the over 50 drivers who came to race took to the track for 300 laps of hard racing around the half mile track in Late Model cars.
Derek Thorn and Xfinity Series driver Josh Berry led the racers from the front row. Thorn takes the lead on lap one and goes on to win the race but Josh Berry would finish the race in 25th place after getting into the wall with less than 10 laps remaining in the race.
Sammy Smith led the NASCAR drivers with a second place finish. William Byron, Jake Garcia, and Ty Majeski all finished in the top 10 with Carson Kvapil, Derek Kraus, Noah Gragson, Corey Heim, and Erik Jones also ran in the Derby.
