It’s nearly that time again, when all of New York City prepares for the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and festivities.  For nearly 100 years celebrities, bands, floats, and thousands of Macy’s employees have walked the parade route to entertain the millions of fans gathered along the streets and later on television.

And again this year, Broadway will be a part of the celebration as they entertain the crowd gathered on 34th Street in front of the huge Macy’s department store.

On November 24 cast members from “Funny Girl”, “A Beautiful Noise” – the Neil Diamond musical, “Some Like it Hot”, and celebrating 25 years on Broadway “The Lion King” are set to perform for the gathered crowd.

The Radio City Rockettes return for a performance; Joshua Dela Curz, Gloria Estefan, Jimmy Fallon with The Roots, Ballet Hispanico, the Big Apple Circus, Jordin Sparks, Paula Abdul, Big Time Rush, Fitz and the Tantrums, Kirk Franklin, Ziggy Marley, Dean Paul, Joss Stone,  Trombone Shorty, Dionne Warwick, and Mario Lopez are among the entertainment scheduled to perform before and during the parade.  Everyone might be asking how to get to “Sesame Street” but the Muppets who call it home will be making an appearance in the parade.

The parade will feature 16 giant balloons plus 40 inflatables, 28 floats, 12 marching bands, 700 clowns, and of course Santa Claus to welcome in the holiday season.

The giant helium balloons have been a part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade since 1927.  This year five new balloons – Bluey, the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” kid, DINO with Baby DINO, Stuart from “The Minions”, and a U.S. Soccer star – will be joining the fan favourites Ada Twist, Astronaut Snoopy, The Boss Baby, Goku, Funko Pop!, Chase from “PAW Patrol”, the Pillsbury Doughboy, Red Titan, Ronald McDonald, Papa Smurf, Pikachu and Eevee, and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Five new floats will also be joining the festivities including Baby Shark.
