Fans who watched Cup Series qualifying on Saturday at Watkins Glen International May have noticed a DNS bride Christopher Bell and Cody Ware’s names. And while it was noted by the NBC broadcast team that the crew for Christopher Bell’s car had to make an engine change after it blew during practice; nothing was said about Cody Ware…
Until now…
During the practice session, Ware’s car lost some ballast – a major penalty in the NASCAR rule book. As a result of the infraction Ware was not allowed to qualify the car and had to start the race from the back of the field. In addition; crew chief Billy Plourde, car chief Jamie Edwards, and engineer Steven Gray have all been suspended for the next four races.
In the Xfinity Series, the number 16 Kaulig Racing car driven by AJ Allmendinger was found to have a single lug nut improperly secured during post race inspection. As a result, crew chief Bruce Schlicker was fined $5,000.
