The Xfinity Series caps off a doubleheader day of racing with IndyCar when the NASCAR series runs the Penzoil 150 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

A total of ninet drivers from the Cup Series are doing the double dip with running both the Xfinity and Cup Series races – AJ Allmendinger, Ty Gibbs, Alex Bowman, Chase Briscoe, Bubba Wallace, Ross Chastain, Austin Dillon, and Ty Dillon.

Parker Kligerman trades in his microphone for a steering wheel and will be a part of the race today.

IndyCar driver James Hinchcliff joins the broadcast team for the race in a cross over where Dale Earnhardt Jr joined the IndyCar crew for the broadcast.

Forty-two teams brought cars for 38 starting spots for today’s race. 

Group A drivers Sam Mayer, Riley Herbst, Chase Briscoe, Josh Berry, and Noah Gragson will all move on to the second round of qualifying.

Parker Kligerman failed to make a qualifying run after a power steering issue.

From Group B; AJ Allmendinger, Alex Bowman, Ty Gibbs, Austin Hill, and Justin Allgaier will all run in round tow to set the pole.

With a time of 1:29.748, AJ Allmendinger puts his number 16 car on the pole with Ty Gibbs starting alongside on the front row.

Brad Perez, JJ Yeley, Mason Filippi, and Josh Williams all failed to make the race.

Bayley Currey, Brandon Jones, Anthony Alfredo, Parker Kligerman, Brandon Brown, Kaz Grala, and Austin Dillon will all have to start the race from the back of the field after the crews made some unapproved adjustments to the cars.  Chase Briscoe and Miguel Paludo will also have to start the race form the back of the field after crews made tire changes.

Stages one and two of the race are just 20 laps each with stage three lasting 22 laps for a total of 62 laps around the near two and a half mile road course.  Drivers can run 26 to 29 laps on a single load of fuel.

Jeb Burton is on pit road with reports of a trackbar issue.  He has to take his cr to the garage for repairs.

Chase Briscoe reports that the idle is too high and is looking to have it repaired.

AJ Allmendinger brings the field down for the green flag start of the race with Allmendinger edging out for the lead but Ty Gibbs is right behind him.

Lap two, AJ Allmendinger has put a little distance between him and Ty Gibbs; Riley Herbst, Noah Gragson, and Alex Bowman round out the top five.

Lap three, AJ Allmendinger has pulled out to a one second lead on Ty Gibbs; Riley Herbst, Noah Gragson, and Alex Bowman round out the top five with Justin Allgaier, Sam Mayer, and Josh Berry right behind.

Alex Bowman passes Noah Gragson for fourth.

Brett Moffitt makes an unscheduled stop on pit road.  The crew is making a tire change.

Lap four, AJ Allmendinger has pulled out to a lead of nearly two seconds on Ty Gibbs.  Alex Labbe has locked up the tires twice and has two flat spotted tires.

Lap five, the top five are AJ Allmendinger, Ty Gibbs, Riley Herbst, Alex Bowman, and Noah Gragson.

Lap seven, AJ Allmendinger has a lead of over a second and a half on Ty Gibbs; Alex Bowman, Riley Herbst, and Justin Allgaier round out the top five.

Noah Gragson is reporting no driver and no lateral.

Parker Kligerman makes an unscheduled stop on pit road.

Jeb Burton is off the track and in the garage for repairs.

Lap nine, AJ Allmendinger now has a lead of over two seconds on Ty Gibbs.

Sam Mayer is having some lockup issues and reports a vibration in his car.

Jeremy Clements makes a green flag pit stop.

Parker Kligerman returns to the track two laps down reporting some engine issues.

Bubba Wallace makes a green flag pit stop.  Wallace is having some overheating issues.

Lap 10, AJ Allmendinger continues to increase his lead and is now two and a half seconds in front of Ty Gibbs.

Lap 14, AJ Allmendinger has a two second lead on Ty Gibbs; Alex Bowman, Riley Herbst, and Justin Allgaier round out the top five.

Lap 15, Parker Kligerman and Ryan Ellis bring out the caution flag when Kligerman has a mechanical issue and gets loose collecting Ellis in the process. 

Chase Briscoe just made it to pit road to address an overheating issue before the caution and pit road was closed.  But he ran over the orange pit box and has been charged with a commitment cone violation.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Ty Gibbs just edging out Alex Bowman to win the race off of pit road.  AJ Allmendinger had an issue with the rear of his car that caused a very slow pit stop.  He comes back out on the track in the middle of the pack.

After staying out on the track, Noah Gragson and Myatt Snider will bring the field down for the green flag restart with just two laps remaining in stage one.  Drivers get three and fur wide across the track.  Noah Gragson takes the lead with Myatt Snider in second; Ty Gibbs, Alex Bowman, and Riley Herbst round out the top five.

Ty Gibbs is falling through the field and has dropped to fifth.

AJ Allmendinger is back in the top 10.

Parker Kligerman reports that he lost the brakes just before his wreck; adding that he, “couldn’t Flintstone it”.  He wanted to avoid hitting Ryan Ellis but could not stop with no brakes.

Noah Gragson and Myatt Snider come down pit road for their pit stops.  Landon Cassill and Chase Briscoe also make pit stops.

Alex Bowman brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two with Justin Allgaier alongside on lap 25.  Alex Bowman gets out in front going into turn one.  Ty Gibbs spins out going into turn one but the track stays green.

Justin Allgaier gets the lead.  Josh Berry makes contact with Riley Herbst and spins him around.

The top five are Justin Allgaier, Alex Bowman, Josh Berry, AJ Allmendinger, and Ross Chastain.

Lap 26, Justin Allgaier has a narrow lead on Alex Bowman; AJ Allmendinger, Josh Berry, and Ross Chastain round out the top five.

Anthony Alfredo spins out.

The caution flag comes out for debris on the race track.

Teams are outside of their fuel window, but some drivers come down pit road for repairs and adjustments.

NASCAR has black flagged Noah Gragson for his damaged car.  He will have to come down pit road for repairs.

Justin Allgaier brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 29 and the drivers immediately get three and four wide.  AJ Allmendinger comes down to make it a three wide battle and takes the lead with Alex Bowman in second and Justin Allgaier in third.

Lap 29, the top five are AJ Allmendinger, Alex Bowman, Justin Allgaier, Josh Berry, and Sheldon Creed.

Ryan Ellis, Parker Kligerman, and Jeb Burton are out of the race.

Lap 30, AJ Allmendinger has a lead of over half a second on Alex Bowman; Justin Allgaier, Josh Berry, and Ross Chastain round out the top five.

Bubba Wallace is off the track.  All of the cars on the track are on the lead lap.

Josh Berry reports a flat spotted tire.

Lap 32, AJ Allmendinger has a lead of over a second on Alex Bowman; Justina Allgaier, Ross Chastain, and Jsoh Berry round out the top five.

Lap 34, AJ Allmendinger has a one second lead on Alex Bowman;  Justin Allgaier, Ross Chastain, and Josh Berry round out the top five.  Allmendinger has led 20 laps so far. 

Lap 35, drivers are now in their pit window to make it to the end of the race and are beginning to make green flag pit stops.

Bubba Wallace is out of the race with engine issues.

Lap 37, AJ Allmendinger has aone second lead on Alex Bowman; Justin Allgaier, Ross Chastain, and Josh Berry round out the top five.

Lap 38, leader AJ Allmendinger makes his green flag pit stop with Alex Bowman right behind him.  Josh Berry is the new leader.  Alex Bowman edges out AJ Allmendinger coming off of pit road.

AJ Allmendinger stopped a little too close to the wall for the jackman to raise the car with just one pump. 

Ty Gibbs and Jeremy Clements were charged with a commitment cone violation.  Daniel Hemric was caught speeding on pit road.

The top 12 drivers have yet to make a pit stops.  Some of the drivers come down pit road for service.

Ty Gibbs, Alex Labbe, and Jeremy Clements will have to restart the race form the back of the field to serve a penalty.

Flat spotting tires is an issue for the drivers today.

Alex Bowman brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three with AJ Allmendinger alongside with 18 laps remaining in the race.  Bowman jumps out in front for the lead but Allmendinger comes up alongside and takes the lead going into turn one.

The top five are AJ Allmendinger, Alex Bowman, Sheldon Creed, Justin Allgaier, and Sam Mayer.

Ross Chastain passes Sam Mayer for fifth.

Miguel Paludo gets turned around but the tracks stays green after he gets the car righted.

Sheldon Creed and Justin Allgaier make contact in a battle for position.  Allgaier takes the spot but has a smoking car.

Sheldon Creed gets turned around but gets moving again and the track stays green.

Lap 47, AJ Allmendinger has a second and a half lead on Alex Bowman; Justin Allgaier, Ross Chastain, and Chase Briscoe round out the top five.  Four of the top five drivers will also be running in the race on Sunday.

Brandon Brown is the only driver one lap down.

Lap 48, AJ Allmendinger has pulled out to a lead of nearly two and a half seconds on Alex Bowman.

Lap 49, the top five are AJ Allmendinger, Alex Bowman, Ross Chastain, Justin Allgaier, and Chase Briscoe.

Lap 50, AJ Allmendinger has a lead of over two and a half seconds on Alex Bowman; Ross Chastain, Chase Briscoe, and Justin Allgaier round out the top five.

Lap 51, AJ Allmendinger has increased his lead to three seconds on Alex Bowman.

Ten to go, three of the four JR Motorsports car are in the top 10 with the fourth car just outside the top 10 in eleventh.  AJ Allmendinger holds on to the lead by nearly three seconds.

Six to go, AJ Allmendinger has a lead of nearly three seconds on Alex Bowman; Ross Chastain, Justin Allgaier, and Chase Briscoe round out the top five.

AJ Allmendinger has eight road course wins in his career.

Five to go, Chase Briscoe reports that he has no third gear.

Alex Bowman has closed the gap on leader AJ Allmendinger to two and a half seconds; third place driver Ross Chastain is over eleven seconds back with  Justin Allgaier and Chase Briscoe rounding out the top five.

Kaz Grala gets off the track but gets it moving again and the track stays green.

Four to go, AJ Allmendinger’s lead is down to two seconds on Alex Bowman.

With a lead of over two seconds, AJ Allmendinger takes the white flag.

AJ Allmendinger wins the road course at Indy for his ninth career road course win – the most of any NASCAR driver.
