After making qualifying run at Pocono, driver of the number 45 23XI Racing car Kurt Busch had a close encounter of the hard kind with the wall.  As a result, Busch was placed under the concussion protocol and ruled out for the race.

While he was hoping to make the road course race this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Busch has not been cleared by medical personnel to drive in the race.

Due to missing the race at Pocono, Busch has dropped out of the top 16 in driver points but is currently ranked 12th in the playoff points after winning the race in Kansas.  NASCAR’s competition officials have stated that Busch will receive a medical waiver upon his return and will be eligible for the playoffs should he meet all of the other criteria.

After making his Cup Series at Pocono where he finished in the top 20, Xfinity Series regular Ty Gibbs will drive the 45 car again this weekend at Indianapolis for the Verizon 200.
