On July 1, the Broadway League ended the mandatory mask policy for attendance at their theatre productions.  The policy has been replaced by a voluntary policy which remain in place for the foreseeable future.  New York City and New York State health recommend the wearing of a mask but do not require it.

The optional mask policy follows the ending of mandatory vaccines by audiences, cast, and crew earlier this year.

The ruling effects only Broadway productions.  Off Broadway and other city theatres are free to enforce their own policies and theater goers are encouraged to check for any venue mandates prior to attending a show.
