The Xfinity Series drivers have the next couple of weeks off but the Camping World Truck Series joins the Cup Series and comes to wine country in the Napa Valley for the Door Dash 250 for some road racing. This is the first time since 1998 that the Truck Series drivers have come to Sonoma Raceway.
After some Friday afternoon racing, the drivers take to the track on Saturday morning for some group qualifying. The drivers have been divided into groups to qualify with the top five from each group making a second round to determine the pole.
Five time Rolex 24 race winner Andy Lally joins Vinnce Welch and Michael Waltrip in the FOX broadcast booth.
The reports on Carson Hocevar’s injury is a broken right tibia. He had surgery to insert a screw in his leg on Monday. Hocevar says that he has been looking forward to getting back in the truck and racing.
Daniel Suarez is on standby to take over the racing duties for Carson Hocevar, Suarez said that he is looking forward to running three-fourths of the race.
In group B, Carson Hocevar put his number 42 truck in the number one spot with the fastest time on the track so far with 1:18.607. He ran the one lap and is out of the truck. Should Hocevar decide not to go out for the second round of qualifying, he will start the race no further back then tenth place. In an interview between rounds, Hocevar said that he feels like Superman out on the track. When not in his truck, Hocevar uses crutches.
Todd Bodine and Cup Series drivers Austin Dillon, Harrison Burton, Alex Bowman, Ross Chastain, and Kyle Busch are a part of the field for today’s race.
Carson Hocevar got loose at the timing line and took the truck for a spin. He followed up his first round qualifying lap by topping the chart again with a time of 1:18.61 and putting the number 42 truck on the pole. Team mate Ross Chastain will start alongside on the front row.
There is some damage to Hocevar’s truck. He can be overheard saying that his leg doesn’t hurt but feels stupid for wrecking the truck. When asked how he is processing the events, Hocevar said he doesn’t know; adding that he made a dumb mistake.
Even though he earned the pole, Carson Hocevar will have to start the race from the back of the field after the crew makes repairs to the truck. This is Hocevar’s first career pole.
The race will start with Cup Series drivers Ross Chastain and Kyle Busch on the front row.

Carson Hocevar noted that it is hard for him to get out of a truck with his name on it.
A rather short race at just 75 laps, stage one of the race are just 20 laps, stage two is 25 lap with stage three lasting 30 laps around the 1.99 mile road course.
As a Cup Series driver, Kyle Busch is allowed to run in only five Truck Series races each season; this is his fifth and final race of the season. Busch has never failed to win at least one Truck Series race in a season; winless this season so far, this is his last chance to notch win number 62.

Lap four, the top five drivers are spread out but the rest of the pack are bunched up.
Lap five, Ross Chastain hold a lead of nearly three seconds on Kyle Busch; Ty Majeski, Alex Bowman, and Tyler Ankrum round out the top five. Carsn Hocevar is in 27th place.
Stewart Friesen gets turned around and falls out of the top 10 to 20th place.
Lap eight, Ross Chastain has a lead of over two seconds on Kyle Busch; Ty Majeski, Alex Bowman, and Tyler Ankrum round out the top five. Carson Hocevar has moved up to 24th place; 12 spots from where he started the race.
Lap nine, Kyle Busch has cut the lead to Ross Chastain to under two seconds; Ty Majeski in third place is over six seconds back.
Lap 10, The gap between leader and Kyle Busch is just a second and half; Ty Majeski, Alex Bowman, and Tyler Ankrum round out the top five.
Stand by driver Daniel Suarez is putting on his helmet in preparation of taking over the driving duties for injured Carson Hocevar.
The 46 truck of Stephan Parsons brings a smoking truck down pit road.
Lap eleven, Carson Hocevar brings his truck down pit road and gets out of the truck; giving the wheel over to Daniel Suarez. Getting out of the truck, Hocevar said that the front drive is perfect; adding to just have fun. Getting secured into the truck, Daniel Suarez has gone one lap down.
Lap 13, Ross Chastain continues to lead the race with Kyle Busch in second; Ty Majeski, Alex Bowman, and Tyler Ankurm round out the top five.
Six laps remain in stage one with Ross Chastain over a second and a half in front of Kyle Busch; Ty Majeski, Alex Bowman, and Tyler Ankrum round out the top five.
Carson Hocevar said that 10 laps was about all he could do; adding that that there were smarter people around him and felt that was the right decision.
After having some issues getting buckled into the truck, Daniel Suarez comes out in 35th place two laps down. The switch over took a little over two minutes.
Lap 17, Stewart Friesen short pits; as does leader Ross Chastain. Kyle Busch is the new leader with a lead of over six seconds on Ty Majeski.
Lap 18, leader Kyle Busch comes down pit road just before it closes to make his pit stop. Busch is reporting a tight issue.
The teams have just three sets of tires in the pits.
Alex Bowman also makes a pit stop. Ty Majeski is the new leader.
Lap 19, Tyler Ankrum is on leader Ty Majeski’s bumper and is looking to take the lead.

Kris Wright and Matt DiBenedetto’s crews were charged with having an uncontrolled tire on pit road. Josh Bilicki and Todd Bodine were caught speeding on pit road. Hailie Deegan’s crew was charged with crew coming over the pit wall too soon. All three drivers will have to restart the race form the back of the field.

Going into turn eleven, Kyle Busch passes Ross Chastain and takes the lead.
Christian Eckes brings out the first caution flag for an on track incident when he gets into the wall after some contact with John Hunter Nemechek.
Daniel Suarez is the “luck dog” and is now back on the lead lap. He came down pit road for a fresh set of tires after taking fuel only at the stage break.
Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 31 with Kyle Busch getting out in front for the lead.

Lap 32, Tyler Ankrum passes Alex Bowman for third. Kyle Busch has a lead of over half a second on Ross Chastain.

Lap 39, Kyle Busch continues to increase his lead and is now over three seconds ahead of Ross Chastain. Tyler Ankrum has caught up to Ross Chastain and is challenging for second.

Lap 54, Todd Bodine spins out after some on track contact but the track stays green and he gets moving again.
Lap 55, Matt Crafton takes his smoking truck down pit road and is out of the race with a blown engine.
Lap 56, Kyle Busch has a second and a half lead on Ross Chastain; Ty Majeski, Alex Bowman, and Parker Kligerman round out the top five. Daniel Suarez is up to 15th place.
With 17 laps to go, Kyle Busch has pulled out to a lead of nearly two seconds on Ross Chastain. Alex Bowman passes Ty Majeski for third.
Lap 60, Kyle Busch has a near two second lead on Ross Chastain.
Stewart Friesen and Matt DiBenedetto make contact and send the tires on turn seven flying and bringing out the caution flag.
The crews have a set of tires in the pits but will they come down for fresh tires or stay out on the track?
Kyle Busch leads the field down pit road for fresh tires and fuel. Some drivers are complaining of no rear grip. Kyle Busch wins the race off of pit road but Ben Rhodes, Derek Kraus, and Chase Purdy stayed out on the track.
Alex Bowman was charged with equipment interference during his pit stop and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.

Hailie Deegan has a flat tire and gets off the track; bringing out the caution flag with 10 laps to go. She reports that she is fine.
With nine laps remaining in the race the top five are Kyle Busch, Ben Rhodes, Ty Majeski, Chandler Smith, and Zane Smith. Daniel Suarez is in the top 10 in ninth place.

Five to go, Kyle Busch has a lead of over half a second on Chandler Smith. The caution flag comes out for a wreck involving Stewart Friesen and Josh Bilicki that sends Bilicki into the wall and flames coming out the back of Friesen’s truck. Alex Bowman and Lawless Alan were also involved.
NASCAR has red flagged the race with four laps to go in order to get the wall back into place.
At the time of the red flag the top five are Kyle Busch, Chandler Smith, Zane Smith, Ty Majeski, and Ross Chastain.
A hot day in northern California, NASCAR officials are bringing bottles of water to the drivers sitting out on the track.
The wall has been repaired and the trucks get moving again after a red flag of nearly 13 minutes.
