The winners for the 2022 Drama Desk Awards have been announced with the awards being presented at Sardi’s Restaurant on June 14. “Clyde’s”, “Company”, and “SIX: The Musical” lead the list of winners with four each. “Flying Over Sunset”, “MJ”, “Prayer for the French Republic”, “Lackawanna Blues”, and “Paradise Square” also garnered multiple wins.
The Drama Desk Awards are the only theatrical honours that include Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway in a head to head competition. Winners are determined by critics, journalists, editors, and publishers who cover the New York City theatrical scene.
Playwright Alice Childress is being presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously.
The Ensemble Award goes to Adrianna Hicks, Andrea Macasaet, Brittney Mack, Abby Mueller, Samantha Pauly, and Anna Uzele from “SIX: The Musical”.
Marjan Neshat from “Selling Kabul” is being presented the Sam Norkin Off-Broadway Award.
Costume designer Dede Ayite, scenic designer Adam Rigg, and writer Heather Christian will also be presented with special awards.
