While the courts and CDC battle over extending the mask mandate for federal transportation, the Broadway League has extended once again their mandates for face coverings.

While the ruling for theatre fans wearing a mask has been extended until at least May 31, many of the 41 theatres will no longer require a status check for vaccinations beginning May 1.  Theater goers will need to check the show’s website or the point of purchase of tickets to determine whether or not a proof of vaccination is required.

Broadway League president Charlotte St. Martin issued a statement noting, “since resuming performances last fall, over five million attendees have seen a Broadway show, and the safety and security of our cast, crew, and audience has been our top priority. Our intention is that by maintaining strict audience masking through at least the month of May, we will continue that track record of safety for all. And, of course, we urge everyone to get vaccinated.”
