The ad says that Richmond is for lovers, but this weekend, Richmond is for racing when NASCAR comes to Richmond Raceway for some short track racing around the ¾ mile track.

On a cool Saturday morning, the Xfinity Series takes to the track for practice and qualifying prior to the Toyota Care 250.

And returns with Noah Gragson, AJ Allmendinger, Sam Mayer, and Austin Hill competing for a $100,000 prize and a chance to win more.

After a 20 minute practice session, 42 teams make a qualifying run for 38 starting spots in the field.  Matt Mills was the first driver on the track to qualify and set the tone with a time of 23.48 seconds.

Ty Gibbs put his number 54 car on the pole with a qualifying time of 22.161 seconds.  John Hunter Nemechek will start alongside on the front row.

Jeb Burton, JJ Yeley, and Daniel Hemric will all have to start the race from the back of the field after making unapproved adjustments to their cars.

Stages one and two of the race are 75 laps each with stage three lasting 100 laps for a total of 250 laps around the ¾ mile track.

The teams each have four sets of tires for today’s race.  They can run every stage on a single load of fuel, but it is the tires that are the most important for the drivers.

Joey Logano and Daniel Suarez join Adam Alexander in the FOX broadcast booth for today’s race.

Ty Gibbs brings the field down for the green flag start of the race and gets out in front for the lead.

Lap 20, John Hunter Nemechek has pulled out to a half second lead on Noah Gragson; Ty Gibbs, Brandon Jones, and AJ Allmendinger round out the top five.

Lap 24, Noah Gragson leads the Dash-4-Cash drivers in second place; AJ Allmendinger, Austin Hill, and Sam Mayer follow.  The driver that finishes in front of the other three, even if they are not the winners, wins the $100,000 prize.

Lap 26, John Hunter Nemechek leads the race but Noah Gragson has closed the gap to under half a second; Ty Gibbs, AJ Allmendinger, and Brandon Jones round out the top five.

Lap 31, John Hunter Nemechek has increased his lead on Noah Gragson to over half a second; AJ Allmendinger, Ty Gibbs, Brandon Jones, and Austin Hill round out the top five.

Lap 40, Noah Gragson reports no brake pressure; adding he is pushing the brake to the floor.

Lap 41, John Hunter Nemechek has pulled out to a lead of over a second and a half on Noah Gragson; AJ Allmendinger, Ty Gibbs, Brandon Jones, and Austin Hill round out the top five.

Lap 45, there are 29 cars on the lead lap.

John Hunter Nemechek has a lead of over four seconds on AJ Allmendinger; Noah Gragson, Ty Gibbs, and Brandon Jones round out the top five.

Lap 47, Josh Berry takes fifth form Brandon Jones.

Lap 49, John Hunter Nemechek’s lead is still four seconds in front of AJ Allmendinger; Noah Gragson, Ty Gibbs, and Josh Berry round out the top five.

Lap 53, John Hunter Nemechek continues to lead the race with AJ Allmendinger in second; Noah Gragson, Ty Gibbs, and Josh Berry round out the top five.

Lap 61, John Hunter Nemechek has dominated the race since taking the lead; AJ Allmendinger, Noah Gragson, Josh Berry, and Ty Gibbs round out the top five.

Lap 63, there are only 25 cars on the lead lap.

Ten laps remain in stage one, John Hunter Nemechek has a lead of nearly four seconds on AJ Allmendinger.

Six laps remain in stage one, John Hunter Nemechek continues to dominate the race with a lead of over four and a half seconds on AJ Allmendinger; Noah Gragson, Josh Berry, and Ty Gibbs round out the top five.

Drivers come down pit road for fresh tires and service.  John Hunter Nemechek wins the race off of pit road.  Noah Gragson came down pit road before it was open in order for the crew to take care of the brake issue.  As a result, he will have to restart the race form the back of the field.

Noah Gragson has made four trips down pit road to address the brake issue.  He currently has some brakes but is not sure whether it is properly fixed.

Daniel Hemric and Noah Gragson were caught speeding on pit road and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.

John Hunter Nemechek brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 86and holds on to his lead of the race with AJ Allmendinger in second.

Lap 90, Noah Gragson’s brake issues continue when he loses a brake rotor and brings out the caution flag.

John Hunter brings the field down for the green flag restart from the inside lane on lap 96 and holds on to the lead with Ty Gibbs in second; AJ Allmendinger, Ryan Sieg, and Josh Berry round out the top five.

Lap 107, after his numerous brake issues and a speeding penalty, Noah Gragson has moved up to the top 20 in 19th place.

Lap 125, Ty Gibbs is keeping leader John Hunter Nemechek close and not letting him run away from the field in this stage; Nemechek has just a half second lead on Gibbs.

John Hunter Nemechek brings the field down for the green flag restart with just 17 laps remaining in stage two.  Nemechek holds on to the lead.  He has led 121 of 133 laps so far.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Ty Gibbs winning the race off of pit road.  Josh Berry and Jeremy Clements were caught speeding on pit road.  Parker Retzlaff was charges with having an uncontrolled tire on pit road.  Stefan Parsons was charged with leaving his pit stall with equipment – left with the jack still attached.

Lap 213, John Hunter Nemechek battles with Ty Gibbs for the lead with lapped traffic ahead.  Nemechek is registered as a Camping World Truck Series driver and receives no points for the race and is not eligible for the Dash-4-Cash prize.

Lap 214, John Hunter Nemechek takes the lead but the battle continues.

Lap 217, Ty Gibbs retakes the lead; John Hunter Nemechek, AJ Allmendinger, Justin Allgaier, and Ryan Sieg round out the top five.

With 18 laps to go, Sam Mayer battles with AJ Allmendinger for third…and the $100,000 prize.  Mayer takes third.  The prize goes to the team with the driver getting a portion of it.

Fifteen to go, Ty Gibbs has a half second lead on John Hunter Nemechek.

There are only 19 cars on the lead lap; half of the field.

Ten to go, the top five are Ty Gibbs, John Hunter Nemechek, Sam Mayer, AJ Allmendinger, and Ryan Sieg.

Five to go, Ty Gibbs has a narrow lead on John Hunter Nemechek and the battle for the lead begins.  John Hunter Nemechek takes the lead with three laps to go.

Two to go, Ty Gibbs comes back to battle for the lead.

John Hunter Nemechek takes the white flag.

With half a lap to go, Ty Gibbs bumps John Hunter Nemechek to take the lead and win the race.  Nemechek bumps Gibbs left rear to express his displeasure at the move.

Sam Mayer wins the Dash-4-Cash prize and will qualify along with Ty Gibbs, AJ Allmendinger, and Riley Herbst for the prize next week in Martinsville.

This is Ty Gibbs third win this season and his seventh overall career win.  Ty Gibbs is just 19 years old.
