While pre-race inspection issues continue to give the teams trouble, the crews appear to be getting a handle on the tire issues with the new Next Gen car, one team lost a tire during the Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas on March 27.

Late in the race, Bubba Wallace in the 23XIRacing number 23 car lost a tire shortly after a pit stop.  COTA is a road course but it could have been very easy for the bouncing tire to have caused some major damage at the track.

As a result of the lost tie, NASCAR has suspended crew chief Robert “Bootie” Barker,  jackman Caleb Dirks, and rear tire changer Adam Riley four races.

There were no further penalties during the triple header weekend of racing.

However, Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing has officially appealed their massive penalty from last week that was assessed after the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  NASCAR deemed that RFK Racing altered a single source part that is given to all of the teams.  As a result Keselowski was docked 100 points and the team was fined $100,000 along with losing 100 team owner points.  Crew chief Matt McCall is also suspended for four races and should Keselowski make it to the first round of the playoffs, he will be docked 10 playoff points.

The three member Appeals panel will hear the case on April 7.
