Reggaeton and Latin music star Daddy Yankee isn’t waiting around until he is old and gray to announce his retirement. After 30 years of making music the award winning artist says, “I see the finish line,” and has planned one last whirlwind tour of the world and a new album, “Legendaddy”, set for a March 24 release.

The 45 year old native Puerto Rican spoke via a video on his website saying, “this which has been a marathon, at last I see the finish line. his genre, people tell me that I made it global, but it was you who gave me the key to open the doors to make this genre the biggest in the world.”

He added, “I always worked not to fail you, not to look for any problems, with a lot of discipline, to be able to inspire children to be leaders, to dream of growth, to not think about limitations, and to work for their families and their people.”

The six time Latin Grammy Award winner has amassed 10 platinum albums, 20 multi-platinum albums, and a whopping nine Diamond Awards for selling at least 10 million copies of a single recording. The awards range from 10 million to 55 million in sales. Those awards were presented by the RIAA – Recording Industry Association of America – and reflect sales within the United States only!

Daddy Yankee released his first album, “No Mercy”, in 1995.
