Last November the Atlanta Braves were crowned World Series champions after a six game battle with the Houston Astros.
To commemorate the 151 year history of the Braves, the team will take the World Series trophy on a 151 city tour beginning next month. With the teams still in a lockout situation, the Braves have time to take the trophy on its tour of the south including Alabama, Georgie, Tennessee, Mississippi, and North and South Carolina.
Fans will be able to take photos with the trophy, Braves alum, and more along the tour.
The tour begins February 15 at 11:30am in Colony Square.
Atlanta Braves President and CEO Derek Schiller spoke on the plans saying “we felt the tremendous support of Braves Country throughout the season and particularly in the Postseason, and we are taking this Championship on the road to fans across the Southeast so that they can share in the joy and celebration of this historic victory.”
So far the stops include Dekalb, GA; Cherokee, NC; Alpharetta, GA; and the homes of the Gwinnett Braves, Mississippi Braves, Rome Braves and Augusta GreenJackets; Mobile, AL – the home town of Hank Aaron; and the home town of Jackie Robinson in Cairo, GA.
The Braves are asking fans to help plan more of the tour and can make suggestions at Braves.com/TrophyTour.
