After the abbrevited 2021 edition of the Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association lost their slot with NBC to air the annual Golden Globe Awards due to controversial issues over membership and racism.
In 2022, the HFPA failed to secure a television network to broadcast the awards. The January 9 ceremony went on as a live blog sans A-list celebrities as presenters. The one constant for the 79th annual event was its location – the Beverly Hills Hilton.
The “private ceremony” did not include any of the nominees or winners.
The newest incarnation of “West Side Story” and “The Power of the Dog” were the biggest film winners of the night with three trophies each. In television, “Succession” was the big winner of the night with three awards.
