On November 22 NASCAR fined Xfinity Series owner and driver Mike Harmon for violating the NASCAR rule book in regards to vehicle testing.  Officials originally deducted Harmon 75 points – meaning he would begin the 2022 racing season minus 75 points – and fined crew chief Ryan Bell $50,000 and suspended him from the first six point races of the 2022 Xfinity racing season.

Harmon had posted photos of his number 74 car running laps at Rockingham Speedway.

Harmon has appealed the decision.

On December 15, NASCAR upheld the penalty but with a slight change.  The $50,000 fine originally assessed on crew chief Ryan Bell is not added to the penalties of the car’s owner and driver Mike Harmon.  In addition to the $50,000 fine, Harmon will lose 75 car owner and 75 driver points and will be at a deficit when the 2022 Xfinity Series racing season begins at Daytona International Speedway in February.
