“The Voice” has reached the finals of another season with five finalists including the first ever trio on the show.
Eight time “The Voice” winner Blake Shelton brings two of his three live show team members to the finals. Kelly also has two team members in the finals with John finishing out the finalists. Coach Ariana Grande failed to bring one of her team members to the finals.
Tonight the finalists will sing twice – a dedication ballad and an uptempo song. There is no duet with the coach or “The Voice” single this year.
Team Kelly’s Hailey Mia – the youngest member of the finalists at 14 – gets the night of music started off with “Déjà vu” by Olivia Rodrigo. Carson called it a great way to start the show. Ariana called the performance, “so fun”; adding that it felt like being at her show. John was impressed by how in control Hailey was. Coach Kelly called it great.
Team Blake’s Paris Winningham performed “Me and Mrs Jones” and dedicated it to his Dad. Carson said whatever supper club it is, he doesn’t want to leave. Ariana called it a gorgeous performance; adding she can’t wait for the album and tour. John called Paris a classic Soul artist…and a gifted artist. Coach Blake agreed with John; adding that Paris has just sold million of tickets to concerts he hasn’t booked yet.
Team Kelly’s trio Girl Named Tom took on Fleetwood Mac with “The Chain” and brought Kelly to her feet. Blake said that they did a great job; adding that they were always so well rehearsed. Coach Kelly called it “what a moment”; adding that they have done such a wonderful job on the show.
Team Legend’s only entry into the finals Jershika Maple dedicates “I’m Going Down” by Mary J Blige to her church and brought the coaches to their feet. Carson said that the performance was fantastic. Calling herself an idiot, Kelly said that Jershika made it look easy. John called himself fortunate to get to work with Jershika; adding that she has such a gift.
Award winning singer and “The Voice” coach Kelly Clarkson takes the stage for a little holiday music with “Christmas isn’t Cancelled…Just You”.
Team Blake’s Wendy Moten finishes out round one with the Whitney Houston song “How Will I Know”. Ariana called Wendy an incredible vocal technician. Blake was at a loss for words; adding it was one of the greatest live vocal performances he has ever heard.
Hailey returns with a Billie Eilish song that she dedicates to all the little boys and girls; telling them that it is okay to be yourself. John noted that Hailey has been so good this whole season; adding that it was his favourite of her performance s. Kelly agreed with John; adding that she was dripping with amazing tone. Kelly said that Haiely has grown every week.
Paris Winningham returns with the Rufus and Chaka Khan song “Ain’t Nobody”. With arousing applause in the background, Kelly said that Paris has a perfect balance of power and strength. Ariana caught Paris’ hat when he threw it. Blake simply urged fans to vote for Paris to win.
Girl Named Tom return to dedicate their song to each other. Ariana called the performance stunning. Kelly noted that the performance was “crazy beautiful” and “flawless”.
Jershika returns to perform the Adele hit “Rolling in the Deep” and brought the coaches to their feet. Carson called it a great finale performance. John kept saying “oh my god”; adding that there is no one like her.
Wendy Moten returns to close out the show with a performance of the iconic song “Over the Rainbow” that she dedicated to her hometown of Memphis and to Nashville. Wendy began her musical career at 16 when she won a talent contest singing “Over the Rainbow”. John said that he doesn’t think he has ever seen anyone with a talent like hers; adding she makes it look effortless. Blake agreed with John; adding that they have never seen anyone like Wendy on “The Voice” stage in 21 seasons.
In a two hour grand finale, the winner will be revealed after a night of special performances.
