Veteran Character actor Art LaFLeur died November 17, 2021 in Los Angeles after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  He was 78.

While appearing in nearly 170 film and television productions, he is perhaps best known for his roles in two baseball films – as Babe Ruth in “The Sandlot” and as Chicago White Sox 1919 player Chick Gandil.

LaFleur made his screen debut in 1978 as Ivan in the TV Movie “Rescure from Gilligan’s Island”.  Not only was the film the start of a long career, it was where he met his future wife Shelley.

His other roles include the mini series “From Here to Eternity”, “The Man with One Red Shoe”, “Hill Street Blues”, “WIseguy”, “Mr. Baseball”, “Johnny Bago”, “Matlock”, “Hyperion Bay”, “JAG”, “The Practice”, and his final role in 2017 as Dad in the TV Movie “Dive”.

He was born in Gary, Indiana on September 9, 1943.  But it was not until LaFleur reached adulthood that he gave up a sales career in Chicago and moved to Los Angeles to began his acting career.

La Fleur is survived by his wife of over 40 years Shelley, children Molly and Joe, and daughter in law Glenda.
