American Rap artist Young Dolph died November 17 as a result of a gun shot wound in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 36.
The artist, born Adolph Robert Thornton Jr, was patronizing a local bakery – Makeda’s Cookies – for cookies when he was shot. There are no further details on the incident at this time. Law enforcement authorities are investigating.
Cousin Mareno Myers reports that the rapper was in town to visit an ailing aunt and to pass out turkeys for Thanksgiving.
This was not the first time that the rapper has been involved in a shooting; he survived a shooting in Los Angeles in 2017 and his vehicle was hit 100 times in Charlotte.
Young Dolph was an independent artist who owned his own record label – Paper Route Empire – where he retained all control over his music. He has worked with Megan Thee Stallion, T.I., and Key Glock.
His mixtape and album releases include: “King of Memphis”, “Rich Crack Baby”, “Gelato”, “Bulletproof”, “Thinking Out Loud”, “Role Model”, “Dum and Dummer”, “Rich Slave”, “Dum and Dummer 2”, and “Paper Route illuminati”.
Thornton was born on August 11, 1985 in Chicago but lived in Memphis from the time he was two years old.
Young Dolph is survived by his two children.
