The Xfinity Series travels to the home of NASCAR, Daytona Beach, Florida for the Wawa 250 on the high banked tri-oval of Daytona International Speedway.

The past 12 Daytona races for the Xfinity Series has brought 12 different winners.

Michigan race winner AJ Allmendinger sits on the pole and will bring the field to green. Noah Gragson will start alongside on the front row.

After several weeks out of the car due to a leg injury, Michael Annett returns to the number one JR Motorsports car.

Before the drivers even take to the track, the race has been delayed due to lightening strikes in the area.

NASCAR has called for a competition caution on lap 15.

Stages one and two of the race are 30 laps each with stage three lasting 40 laps for a total of 100 laps around the two and a half mile track. The drivers can complete all of the stages on a single load of fuel.

At 7:18pm the teams bring the cars down pit road and the drivers are called to their cars.

AJ Allmendinger brings the field down for the green flag start of the race from the outside lane and gets a push from Justin Allgaier to put Allmendinger in the lead.

AJ Allmendinger leads the first lap with Noah Gragson in second; Justin Allgaier, Brandon Jones and Riley Herbst round out the top five.

Lap four, Noah Gragson passes AJ Allmendinger for the lead; Justin Allgaier, Brandon Jones, and Riely Herbst round out the top five.

The drivers can tap the car in front of them but cannot push.

Lap five, AJ Allmendinger retakes the lead.

Lap six, Brandon Jones takes the lead, but Noah Gragson passes for the lead. AJ Allmendinger retakes the lead.

Lap seven, AJ Allmendinger leads the race with Brandon Jones in second; Noah Gragson, Harrison Burton, and Justin Allgaier round out the top five.

Brandon Jones’ car is pushing water and the grille looks as if there is some debris on it. Jones reports temps in the car are rising.

Lap nine, Brandon Jones has to make an unscheduled trip down pit road. The crew gets the debris off of the grille but did not put any water in the car.

Lap 10, AJ Allmendinger leads the race; Noah Gragson, Justin Allgaier, Riley Herbst, and coming from the middle of the pack Austin Cindric rounds out the top five.

Lap 14, Noah Gragson passes AJ Allmendinger for the lead.

Lap 15, Noah Gragson leads the race; AJ Allmendinger, Riley Herbst, Justin Allgaier, and Christopher Bell round out the top five.

At the end of lap 15, NASCAR displays the yellow flag for the competition caution. Brandon Jones is the “lucky dog”.

Several drivers come down pit road for service and adjustments including some from the front of the pack. Brandon Jones comes down pit road to replace the water he has lost.

Summertime in Daytona, a rain shower has popped up.

Brandon Jones takes his car to the garage with a blown engine. The crew waited too long before coming down pit road to replace the water.

The drivers bring the cars down pit road for a red flag condition for the rain.

At 8:40pm the rain has stopped and track drying procedures continue.

At 9pm, the rains have returned.

Ap 9:10pm NASCAR has called the race and has scheduled it to resume on Saturday afternoon at 12:30pm prior to the Cup Series race.

The drivers have completed 19 of the 100 laps of the race when NASCAR called it for rain. After the cars have been set up for some night time racing, the drivers will return to the track in the heat of the day. When the drivers cranked the engines, the air temperature was 86 degrees but with the humidity and heat index, the temps reach 100 degrees.

When the race was stopped AJ Allmendinger was leading the race; Christopher Bell, Myatt Snider, Austin Cindric, and Brett Moffitt rounded out the top five.

Driving the Joe Gibbs Racing number 54 car is Cup Series driver Christopher Bell who will also race in the Cup Series regular season final tonight.

AJ Allmendinger brings the field down for the green restart and jumps out in front for the lead from the outside lane on lap 22.

Lap 23, AJ Allmendinger leads the way with Austin Cindric in second; Justin Haley, Myatt Snider, and Christopher Bell round out the top five. After some engine issue early in the race on Friday night, Brandon Jones is out of the race. All 39 cars remaining on the track are on the lead lap.

Lap 25, AJ Allmendinger continues to lead the race with Justin Haley in second; Austin Cindric, Jeb Burton, and Myatt Snider round out the top five.

The caution flag comes out on lap 26 for a crash involving several cars. Austin Cindric, Myatt Snider, Sam Mayer, Daniel Hemric, and Michael Annett were all involved. Snider was pushing Cindric who moved to the right and hit the wall; Snider came down and hit Michael Annett who went on an off road excursion.

A frustrated Austin Cindric is out of his car…and out of the race after the crash.

Justin Haley was in a battle for the lead with AJ Allmendinger when the caution came out and is listed as the race leader.

Stage one ends under caution with Justin Haley winning the stage with Kaulig Racing going 1-2-3.

Brandon Brown brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 34 but it is Riley Herbst who edges out for the lead before Brandon Brown makes it a battle.

Lap 35, the top five are Riley Herbst, Chase Briscoe, Brandon Brown, Ryan Sieg, and AJ Allmendinger.

The caution flag comes out on lap 35 for debris on the track. Michael Annett has a tire rub that shreds the left front panel.

Riley Herbst brings the field down for the green flag restart from the inside lane on lap 40 and gets out in front of Chase Briscoe for the lead.

The top five are Riley Herbst, Chase Briscoe, Brandon Brown, Ryan Sieg, and Harrison Burton.

Lap 41, Brandon Brown goes nose to nose with leader Riley Herbst to battle for the lead. Herbst holds on to the lead.

Lap 42, Riley Herbst leads the race with Chase Briscoe in second; Brandon Brown, Ryan Sieg, and AJ Allmendinger round out the top five.

Lap 44, Riley Herbst and Brandon Brown battle for the lead with Brandon Brown edging out for the lead from the inside lane.

Lap 45, Brandon Brown leads the race with AJ All on his bumper; Justin Allgaier, Noah Gragson, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

Lap 46, AJ Allmendinger takes the lead with Justin Allgaier, Noah Gragson, Sam Mayer, and Brandon Brown rounding out the top five.

Lap 48, the caution flag comes out for debris on the track after Caesar Bacarella lost some sheet metal.

Lap 70, there are 37 cars on the lead lap with two cars out of the race.

The caution flag comes out on lap 73 when Colin Garrett and Colby Howard spin out. Garrett is stuck in the grass.

Noah Gragson brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 77 with Christopher Bell alongside on the inside lane. With a push from Jeb Burton, Noah Gragson edges out for the lead but in a three wide battle, Christopher Bell is the new leader.

Lap 79, Christopher Bell holds on to the lead with Jeb Burton on his bumper, Noah Gragson, Justin Allgaier, and Riley Herbst round out the top five.

Colin Garrett and Spencer Boyd are out of the race with 33 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 82, the caution flag comes out for a crash involving Caesar Bacarella, Matt Mills, and Jade Buford. Bacarella is in the grass near the wall.

Jeb Burton reports water temps are going crazy and are all over the place.

Christopher Bell brings the field down for the green flag restart with just 14 laps remaining in the race. Bell and Jeb Burton battle fo the lead with Christopher Bell finally getting out in front with 13 laps to go.

The top five are Christopher Bell, Justin Allgaier, AJ Allmendinger, Jeb Burton, and Harrison Burton.

There are 32 cars on the lead lap.

Ten to go, Christopher Bell leads the race with Justin Allgaier in second; AJ Allmendinger, Harrison Burton, and Jeb Burton round out the top five.

Eight to go, the drivers are still single file.

Six to go, some of the drivers are beginning to move down the track trying to battle for position.

Christopher Bell continues to lead the race. He has never won a race at Daytona.

Five to go, Christopher Bell holds on to a tenth of a second lead on Justin Allgaier.

Drivers are beginning to make their moves. The three drivers of Kaulig Racing have gotten together and are working to take the lead.

AJ Allmendinger is the new leader with Jeb Burton in second and Justin Haley in third; Christopher Bell and Harrison Burton round out the top five.

Two to go, Christopher Bell tries to battle AJ Allmendinger for the lead but a push from Jeb Burton keeps Allmendinger in the lead.

The Kaulig Racing cars are side by side in a battle for the lead with Justin Haley edging out for the win with AJ Allmendinger in second; Jeb Burton finishes fourth behind Justin Allgaier. Haley was very emotional with his third Daytona win.
