The opening ceremonies are over and the official competitions have begun at the delayed Tokyo Summer Olympics.

And the first medals have been awarded with the People’s Republic of China leading the way with three gold medals and a bronze medal for a total of four. Eighteen other countries have also had athletes earn medals after the first full day of competitions. Eight other countries have also earned a gold medal.

The United States has not yet earned any medlas.
