On an early and wet Saturday morning, the Camping World Truck Series takes to the track to qualify for the Toyota Tundra 225 in the inaugural event at Circuit of the Americas to kick off a triple header weekend and a double header Saturday.

After a wet qualifying event, Tyler Ankrum puts his number 26 truck on the pole with Kaz Grala starting alongside on the front row.

For the first time in many years Paul Menard returns to NASCAR to race in the Truck Series and will start in 26th place.

Ryan Truex’s team made an engine change, Lawless Alan’s team made a transmission change, and Austin Wayne Self’s team made some unapproved adjustments to the truck; as a result, all three drivers will start the race from the back of the field.

NASCAR has determined that the course is udner wet conditions and the drivers will start the race with wet weather tires. They must also have a windshield wiper and a working red light in the rear window of the truck.

With a road course of over three miles, the race is only 41 laps in length. Stage one is 12 laps long, stage two is 14 laps long, and stage three is 15 laps in length.

Multi series driver and champion Andy Lally joins Vince Welch and Michael Waltrip in the FOX Sports booth for the race.

The rain has slowed to a drizzle and the track is expected to dry before the end of the race.

After winning his first pole, Tyler Ankrum brings the field down for the green flag start of the race but it is Kaz Grala who gets out in front for the lead.

Since the drivers had a practice session and a qualifying run, there will be no competition caution for the race.

Parker Kligerman and Austin Hill make contact spinning out Hill but the track stays green. Parker Kligerman makes an unscheduled trip down pit road for a flat tire. With lap times of over two minutes, drivers can make a pit stop and not lose a lap.

Kaz Grala leads lap one with Matt Crafton in second.

Lap two, the top five are Kaz Grala, Matt Crafton, Sheldon Creed, Tyler Ankrum, and Todd Gilliland.

Lap three, the rain has picked up at COTA.

Lap four, Kaz Grala has pulled out to a lead of over a second on Sheldon Creed; Tyler Ankrum, Matt Crafton, and Todd Gilliland round out the top five.

The rain has not dampened the fans enthusiasm for NASCAR’s coming to COTA and are filling the stands.

Hailie Deegan and Tate Fogleman make contact and spin out but the track stays green.

Lap five, Jaz Grala has increased his lead on Sheldon Creed to three seconds. All 36 trucks are on the track and on the lead lap.

Lap six. Kaz Grala has a lead of over two and a half seconds on Sheldon Creed; Tyler Ankrum, Matt Crafton, and Todd Gilliland round out the top five.

Tate Fogleman makes an unscheduled trip down pit road.

This is race two of the Triple Truck Challenge. The winner of the challenge will get $50,000.

Lap seven, Kaz Grala continues to lead the race but Sheldon Creed has cut into the lead which is now under two seconds; Tyler Ankrum, Todd Gilliland, and Matt Crafton round out the top five.

Lap nine, Kaz Grala’s lead is down to under a second and a half on Sheldon Creed with Todd Gilliland in third; Tyler Ankrum and Matt Crafton round out the top five.

Zane Smith short pits and comes down pit road on lap 10. Grant Enfinger also makes a pit stop as other drivers pit before the end of the stage.

On the final lap of stage one, Todd Gilliland and Kaz Grala battle for the lead. The battle continues with every turn.

Drivers come down pit road for servcie with Todd Gilliland winning the race of fof pit road with Matt Crafton coming out second.

After pitting before the end of the stage, Sheldon Creed, Zane Smith, Grant Enginger, Christian Eckes, Parker Chase, Carson Hocevar, and Camden Murphy all stay out on the track.

Stage winner Todd Gilliland, Austin Wayne Self, Hailie Deegan were all charged with crew members coming over the pit wall too soon and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.

Sheldon Creed brings the filed down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 14 from the inside lane and jumps out in front for the lead with Grant Enfinger in second.

Lap 15, the top five are Sheldon Creed, Grant Enfinger, Zane Smith, Carson Hocevar, and Sam Mayer.

Drivers are getting four wide in spots on the track.

Zane Smith takes second place from Grant Enfinger.

Lap 16, the top five are Sheldon Creed, Zane Smith, Grant Enfinger, Sam Mayer, and Kaz Grala.

Lap 17, Sheldon Creed has pulled out to a lead of over four seconds on Zane Smith; Grant Enfinger, Sam Mayer, and Kaz Grala round out the top five. Roger Reuse is the only driver not on the lead lap.

Fourth place driver Sam Mayer already has a win at Bristol under his belt…and he doesn’t even turn 18 until next month.

Lap 18, visibility is becoming a big issue for some of the drivers. Sheldon Creed has pulled out to a lead of over five seconds on Sam Mayer; Zane Smith, Grant Enfinger, and Kaz Grala round out the top five.

Lap 19, Sheld Creed continues to dominate the race with a lead of six seconds on Sam Mayer; Kaz Grala, Tyler Ankrum, and Grant Enfinger round out the top five.

Lap 20, Zane Smith spins out with a flat tire and has to make an unscheduled trip down pit road.

Kaz Grala takes second from Sam Mayer but is six seconds behind the leader.

The top five are Sheldon Creed, Kaz Grala, Sam Mayer, Tyler Ankrum, and Ben Rhodes.

Some of the drivers begin making green flag pit stops.

Lap 21, Sheldon Creed continues to lead the race but is now less than five seconds in front of Kaz Grala; Tyler Ankrum, Sam Maher, and Ben Rhodes round out the top five.

With four laps remaining in stage two, Sam Mayer comes down pit road to make his pit stop; giving up a top five position.

Lap 23, the top five are Sheldon Creed, Kaz Grala, Tyler Ankrum, Ben Rhodes, and Grant Enfinger. There are 35 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 24, Kaz Grala gives up a second place spot to make a pit stop short of the end of the stage. Several of the drivers short pit including Ben Rhodes who also gives up a top five position.

Sheldon Creed leads the race but Tyler Ankrum is less than two seconds behind and is looking to challenge for the lead.

Leaders come down pit road three laps short of the end of stage two. Ben Rhodes is the new leader.

John Hunter Nemechek was charged with having an uncontrolled tire during his pit stop and will have to make a driver through penalty.

With two laps remaining in stage two, Ben Rhodes leads the race with Matt Crafton in second; Derek Kraus, Sheldon Creed, and Bayley Currey round out the top five.

Ben Rhodes has a five second lead on Matt Crafton on the final lap of stage two.

The teams were given only three sets of wet weather tires for the race including those they started the race with.

Drivers come down pit road for service. Timothy Peters was charged with pitting outside of his pit stall and has been penalized one lap.

Sheldon Creed brings the field down for the green lfag start of stage three on lap 29 and holds on to the lead as the drvers get five wide across the track.

The top five are Sheldon Creed, Kaz Grala, Tyler Ankrum, Austin Hill, and Todd Gilliland.

Timothy Peters and Rogers Reuse are the only drivers not on the lead lap.

Lap 30, Sheldon Creed has a lead of over a second on Tyler Ankrum; Kaz Grala, Todd Gilliland, and Grant Enfinger round out the top five.

With eleven laps remaining in the race, there has been only two caution flags at the end of the stages.

Tyler Ankrum continues to battle with Sheldon Creed for the lead. Ankrum is currently out of the playoffs in 14th place and only 10 spots open for the playoffs but a win would guarantee him a spot.

Lap 32, the battle for the lead continues between leader Sheldon Creed and Tyler Ankrum; Todd Gilliland, Kaz Grala, and Grant Enfinger round out the top five.

Ten to go, Sheldon Creed and Tyler Ankrum are side by side in a battle for the lead. Tyler Ankrum passes Sheldon Creed for the lead. Kaz Grala and Todd Gilliland move up hoping to join the battle for the lead spot.

Lap 33, Tyler Ankrum has a second and a half lead on Todd Gilliland; Sheldon Creed, Kaz Grala, and Grant Enfinger round out the top five.

With seven laps remaining in the race, Todd Gilliland is on leader Tyler Ankrum’s bumper and is challenging for the lead.

Lap 34, Todd Gilliland finally takes the lead but Tyler Ankrum isn’t ready to give up and the battle continues.

Lap 35, Since taking the lead, Todd Gilliland has pulled away from the field and has a two and a half second lead on Tyler Ankrum.

Lap 36, Todd Gilliland has increased his lead to four seconds on Tyler Ankrum.

Christian Eckes has a flat tire and is limping his way around the track trying to get to pit road.

With a lead of 7.14 seconds, Todd Gilliland takes the white flag.

Chandler Smith gets off the track and into the gravel.

It has been nearly two years since Todd Gilliland last won a race but with a lead of over seven seconds he becomes the first NASCAR and Camping World Truck Series driver to win on the road course at Circuit of the Americas. Gilliland also takes home the Triple Truck Challenge prize.
