Before NASCAR travels to Darlington, South Carolina for a triple header throwback weekend, the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series takes to the virtual Darlington Raceway – also known as the Lady in Black – for a virtual race that will feature the Next Gen Car that will be debuted in 2022.

Again this week, Naval Lt Commander Jesse Iwuji earned the fan vote and will join the field for the race.  While NASCAR has had a long relationship with the United States military, Commander Iwuju is the only NASCAR driver who has served or is serving in the Armed Services.

While it is subject to change, currently the drivers scheduled to participate in tonight’s race are:

Kurt Busch has joined the lineup for the race.

Bobby Labonte is sitting in for Clint Bowyer who has a previous engagement.

Dale Earnhardt Jr will sit on the pole and bring the field to the green flag with Denny Hamlin starting alongside on the front row.

The race is 120 laps with a fuel load of 60 to 65 laps.  Each driver gets two resets to make repairs.  All of the cars have been set up the same.

Dale Earnhardt Jr brings the field down for the green flag start of the iRace with Earnhardt getting out in front for the lead and even before the first lap is complete, the caution flag comes out for a wreck started by Matt DiBenedetto.  Anthony Alfredo, Kyle Busch, and Denny Hamlin were also involved.

Lap eight, William Byron challenges Dale Earnhardt Jr for the lead but loses a spot to Christopher Bell instead.

Lap nine, the top five are Dale Earnhardt Jr, Christopher Bell, William Byron, Timmy Hill, and Chase Briscoe.

The caution flag comes out on lap 10 after Anthony Alfredo hits Joey Gase.  Denny Hamlin was involved in the second crash.  Hamlin has had to use both of his resets in the first 10 laps due to crashes.

Dale Earnhardt brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 16 and edges out Christopher Bell to hold on to the lead.

Jesse Iwuji has a backdrop of naval planes behind him.

Lap 17, Dale Earnhardt Jr continues to lead the race with Christopher Bell in second; William Byron, Timmy Hill, and James Davison round out the top five.

Lap 20, Joey Logano reports that Austin Dillon has wrecked in front of him.  The caution flag comes out on lap 21.  Joey Logano also has some damage to his car after being hit by Michael McDowell.  Kevin Harvick was also involved in the wreck.

Drivers come down pit road for service and fresh tires.

Bobby Labonte had to be logged back into the race.

The top five drivers stayed out on the track.

Dale Earnhardt Jr brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 27 and jumps out in front for the lead.

The top five are Dale Earnhardt Jr, William Byron, Brad Keselowski, Chase Briscoe, and Chase Elliott.

Martin Truex Jr spins out but the track stays green.

There are 28 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 30, Dale Earnhardt Jr has led every lap so far.

Corey LaJoie and James Davison make contact and spin out but the track stays green on lap 33.

Lap 34, Dale Earnhardt Jr has a lead of over half a second on William Byron; Brad Keselowski, Timmy Hill, and Chase Briscoe round out the top five.

Lap 36, there are 24 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 39, William Byron has closed the gap on leader Dale Earnhardt Jr tu a third of a second; Timmy Hill, Brad Keselowski, and Chase Briscoe round out the top five.

It’s Cinco de Mayo and Daniel Suarez has a Cinco de Mayo celebration paint scheme on his car.

Lap 44, Dale Earnhardt Jr has led every lap so far.  He has increased his lead on William Byron to nearly half a second; Timmy Hill, Brad Keselowski, and Kyle Larson round out the top five.

Lap 48, William Byron passes Dale Earnhardt Jr for the lead.

Lap 49, Timmy Hill, who has made a pit stop, passes Earnhardt for second.

Five drivers did not come down pit road on lap 23.  With a fuel load of 60 to 65 laps, they can make the race on a single pit stop; while the rest of the field will have to make a second stop.

Lap 52, William Byron leads the race with Timmy Hill in second; Dale Earnhardt Jr, Kyle Larson, and Brad Keselowski round out the top five.

Alex Bowman gets loose and spins out on lap 54 bringing out the caution flag.  Cole Custer and Austin Dillon also got involved in the wreck.

Lap 55, Bobby Labonte has returned to the race 35 laps down after some simulator issues.

Timmy Hill brings the field down for the green flag restart with Dale Earnhardt Jr alongside on lap 61 with Timmy Hill jumping out in front for the lead.

The top five are Timmy Hill, William Byron, , Dale Earnhardt Jr, Chase Briscoe, and Kyle Larson.  There are 21 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 65, Timmy Hill holds on to the lead with William Byron in second; Chase Briscoe, Kyle Larson ,and Dale Earnhardt Jr round out the top five.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr is the last car on the lead lap in 21st place.

Chase Briscoe bumps the wall, and gets passed by Kyle Larson and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Fifty to go, Timmy Hill leads the race with William Byron in second.

 Lap 73, there are 20 cars on the lead lap.

The caution flag comes out for a wreck involving Quin Houff.  Ryan Newman was sitting on the track.

Drivers come down pit road for service.

While the Cup Series drivers will have to wait until 2022 to get behind the wheel of the Next Gen car, iRacing fans can get behind the wheel of the Next Gen car now.

Timmy Hill reports that the cars get loose in traffic; adding that it is difficult to pass.

Timmy Hill brings the field down for the green flag restart with 39 laps remaining in the race.

The top five are Timmy Hill, William Byron, Kyle Larson, Anthony Alfredo, and Justin Haley.  Dale Earnhardt Jr restarts the race in eighth place.

Dale Earnhardt Jr and Chase Briscoe make contact but the track stays green.

Lap 74, William Byron passes Timmy Hill for the lead.

Thirty-five laps to go, William Byron leads the race with Timmy Hill in second; Anthony Alfredo, Kyle Larson, and Brad Keselowski rounds out the top five.

The top four cars have pulled out to a lead of over a second and a half on the fifth place car.

Joey Logano spins out but the track stays green.

With 30 laps remaining in the race William Byron has the lead with Timmy Hill in second; Anthony Alfredo, Kyle Larson, and Brad Keselowski round out the top five.

Lap 81, Timmy Hill battle William Byron for the lead, but Byron holds him off.

Kyle Larson slaps the wall but the track stays green.

Lap 83, the top four drivers have now pulled out to a lead of over two seconds.

Anthony Alfredo passes Timmy Hill for second place.

With 24 laps to go, William Byron leads the race; Anthony Alfredo, Timmy Hill, Kyle Larson, and Brad Keselowski round ut the top five.

Timmy Hill makes contact with the wall but the track stays green.

Twenty to go, William Byron has a lead of a quarter of a second on Anthony Alfredo.

With just eleven laps remaining in the race Joey Logano brings out the caution flag after making contact with Austin Dillon and sending him airborne.

Leader Timmy Hill stays out on the track but some drivers came down pit road for fresh tires.

Timmy Hill brings the field down for the green flag restart with just eight laps remaining in the race. Timmy Hill and Chase Bricose were going side by side in turn one but cars were crashing behind him and brings the caution flag out. Chase Briscoe, William Byron, and Kyle Larson were among those involved.

Timmy Hill brings the field down for the three laps shootout to the end. Hill jumps out in front for the lead with Anthony Alfredo in second; James Davison, Erik Jones, and Tyler Reddick round out the top five.

Two to go, Erik Jones takes the lead as Timmy Hill gets into the wall.

Erik Jones in the number 43 Petty car wins the race for his first iRacing win. The winner gets bragging rights and will have $5,000 donated to the charity of his choice.
