One day after the Hollywood Foreign Press Association released the list of nominees for the Golden Globe Awards, SAG-AFTRA released their list of nominees for the 27th annual SAG – Screen Actor’s Guild – Awards.

The SAG Awards are the only awards for film and television selected by the actors themselves.  While the various awards often run along similar lines, there were some marked differences in the Guild’s selections including productions overlooked by the HFPA and a more diverse selection of nominees.  By the same token, the SAG Awards overlooked productions that led in the Golden Globe nominations.

The SAG Awards are often seen as the precursor for the Academy Award nominees.

Among the list of possible winners are four posthumous nominations for Chadwick Boseman.

Like in the Golden Globes, Netflix leads the list of nominees by a large margin with a total of 30.

Normally held in January, the 2021 edition of the SAG Awards will be held on April 4.  The April date was selected after the planned March 14 date was taken by the Recording Academy for the Grammy Awards.
