Looking for a hopeful 2021, NASCAR has released the schedule for next year. A schedule that features more road courses and a new dirt trace race for the NASCAR Cup Series drivers.

As usual, the season will begin with Speedweeks at the Daytona International Speedway.  After the schedule change for the 2020 season that will end with the championship race in the desert at Phoenix Raceway; the 2021 will also end in Phoenix.

New for the 2021 season is a road race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.  Previously the 3.426 mile track has been host to Formula 1, IndyCar, and IMSA races.

As previously announced, NASCAR comes to Nashville for a summer race on the 1.33 mile track.

Previously a weekend for some Saturday night racing in Daytona; July 4 will feature another road course race when the Cup Series takes on the four mile track of Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.  It has been 65 years since the Cup Series has run a race at Elkhart Lake.

After the NASCAR debut at the road course in Indianapolis, the Cup Series will race on the 2.439 mile road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway next summer.

And for the first time in over 50 years, the NASCAR Cup Series will run a dirt track race.

For many years Charlotte Motor Speedway was the home of the annual All Star race.  Next season the All Star race moves to Texas Motor Speedway and move to a date in June.

Darlington Raceway and Atlanta Motor Speedway will host two races next season.

With all the additions next season, there has to be some eliminations of tracks; Chicagoland and Kentucky Speedway will not host any races in the Cup Series next season.

NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer Steve O’Donnell spoke on the new schedule saying, “we developed the 2021 schedule with one primary goal: Continue to take steps to create the most dynamic schedule possible for our fans.  Extensive collaboration between NASCAR, the race tracks, race teams and our broadcast partners allowed NASCAR to create what promises to be an exciting 2021 schedule of races.”
