The Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series gets a doubleheader Sunday started off with the South Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Darlington Raceway – the track called “The Lady in Black” and “too tough to tame”.

After NASCAR’s new formula to determine the starting lineup, Brett Moffitt sits on the pole and will bring the field to green with Sheldon Creed alongside on the front row.

In a one off racing deal, Greg Biffle returns to Darlington to run the race after flying in from out west on Saturday.

David Ragan returns to the truck series for the first time since 2006 and will have to come from the back of the field.

Trevor Bayne has been out of racing for a number of years, but quickly accepted an invitation to run in today’s race.

Stages one and two of the race are 45 laps each with stage three lasting 57 laps for a total of 147 laps around the mile and a third track.

Brett Moffitt brings the field down for the green flag start of the race and goes side by side with Sheldon Creed before Creed gets out in front to take the lead.

It only took one turn for the drivers to get three wide across the track.

Lap two, the top five are Sheldon Creed, Brett Moffitt, Zane Smith, Raphael Lessard, and Austin Hill.

Lap three, Brett Moffitt challenges Sheldon Creed for the lead, but Creed holds him off.

Bryant Barnhill brings out the first caution flag of the race when the South Carolina native gets into the wall hard.

Sheldon Creed brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap eleven with Brett Moffitt edging out for the lead before Sheldon Creed reclaims the top spot.

Lap 12, the top five are Sheldon Creed, Bett Moffitt, Zane Smith, Austin Hill, and Ben Rhodes.

Lap 13, Austin Hill takes third place from Zane Smith.

Zane Smith is reporting a tight condition.

Lap 18, Sheldon Creed has pulled out to a lead of nearly half a second on Brett Moffitt; Austin Hill, Zane Smith, and Ben Rhodes round out the top five.

Stewart Friesen is reporting a handling issue on his truck.

The caution flag comes out on lap 21 for a competition caution.  With no practice, the competition caution gives the crews a chance to check tire wear and make adjustments to the handling of the truck.

Drivers bring their trucks down pit road for service.  The teams were given six sets of tires for today’s race.

Brett Moffitt wins the race off of pit road.

Zane Smith’s team had a slow pit stop after having trouble removing a piece of rubber.

After staying out on the track, Timmy Hill brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 26 but it is Brett Moffitt who gets out in front for the lead.

Lap 27, the top five are Brett Moffitt, Sheldon Creed, Austin Hill, Ben Rhodes, and David Ragan.

Lap 28, there are 32 cars on the lead lap with Bryant Barnhill out of the race and Norm Benning one lap down.

After getting in a truck after being out of NASCAR for some time, David Ragan is in fifth place after starting in last place (34th), Greg Biffle is in 17th, and Trevor Bayne is in 20th.

Lap 33, Brett Moffitt has pulled out to a lead of over a second on Sheldon Creed; Austin Hill, Ben Rhodes, and David Ragan round out the top five.

David Ragan is having some radio issues – he can hear the crew and spotter, but they cannot hear him.

Lap 37, Brett Moffitt has increased his lead over Sheldon Creed to two seconds.; Austin Hill, Ben Rhodes, and David Ragan continue in the top five.

Lap 39, Brett Moffitt continues to increase his lead and is now over three seconds out in front as he has begun lapping slower traffic.  There are 28 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 43, now in second, Austin Hill has closed the gap on leader Brett Moffit to under half a second.

Trevor Bayne is reporting that something broke in the front suspension.

Brett Moffitt brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two with team mate Sheldon Creed alongside on lap 52.  Moffitt and Creed go side by side until Sheldon Creed finally gets out in front for the lead.

Dawson Cram brings his truck down pit road after hitting the wall.

Lap 55, the top five are Sheldon Creed, Brett Moffitt, Austin Hill, Ben Rhodes, and Raphael Lessard.

Lap 58, Sheldon Creed has a lead of over half a second on Brett Moffitt; Austin Hill, Ben Rhodes, and Raphael Lessard round out the top five.

Zane Smith passed four trucks in one pass.

Lap 62, Brett Moffitt has cut into Sheldon Creed’s lead and is now on his bumper and is looking to challenge for the lead.

Lap 68, Sheldon Creed has increased his lead on Brett Moffitt to half a second.  There are 25 trucks on the lead lap with two trucks out of the race.

Lap 71, Brett Moffitt has again cut into Sheldon Creed’s lead; which is now down to a quarter of a second.

Tyler Ankrum is reporting a grip problem and Christian Eckes reports a loose condition on his truck

Lap 77, Sheldon Creed continues to lead the race with Brett Moffitt over half a second back; Austin Hill, Ben Rhodes, and Raphael Lessard round out the top five.

With just eight laps remaining in stage two, Sheldon Creed has a lead of over half a second on team mate Brett Moffitt; Austin Hill is nearly two seconds back in third place.  Norm Benning is off the track with 21 trucks on the lead lap.

Five to go in stage two, Brett Moffitt has closed back up to just a quarter of a second behind leader Sheldon Creed.

Sheldon Creed got slideways on the track but saved the truck and kept it off the wall.

Sheldon Creed wins stage two for his fifth stage win of the season.

Lap 101, Brett Moffitt has pulled out to a lead of over half a second on Sheldon Creed; Austin Hill, Raphael Lessard, and Ben Rhodes round out the top five.

The caution flag comes out on lap 103 when Tyler Ankrum spins out and manages to avoid the wall.  Zane Smith has some damage to his truck after some contact from Ankrum.

Brett Moffitt brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 107 from the inside lane with team mate Sheldon Creed alongside on the outside lane.  Moffitt gets out in front for the lead with Sheldon Creed in second.  Moffitt has come in second several times this season, but has yet to win a race.

Lap 109, Brett Moffitt has a half second lead on Sheldon Creed; Ben Rhodes, Austin Hill, and Matt Crafton round out the top five.

With 35 laps remaining in the race, Brett Moffitt has pulled ut to a lead of over a second on Sheldon Creed; Ben Rhodes, Austin Hill, and Matt Crafton round out the top five.

Thirty to go, Brett Moffitt now has a lead of over a second and a half on Sheldon Creed; Ben Rhodes, Austin Hill, and Matt Crafton round out the top five.  There are 22 trucks on the lead lap.

With 27 laps to go, Brett Moffitt has pulled out to a lead of over two seconds on Sheldon Creed; Ben Rhodes is over three and a half seconds back in third.

The caution flag comes out with 25 laps to go when Tanner Gray makes contact with Zane Smith against the wall.  Smith has some damage to his truck.

Zane Smith reports that they have “killed” the body on the truck.

Drivers bring their trucks down pit road for fresh tires.  Brett Moffitt wins the race off of pit road.

Brett Moffitt brings the field down for the green flag restart from the inside lane with just 18 laps remaining in the race.  With a push from Austin Hill Brett Moffitt edges out in front but Hill makes it a three way battle with Moffitt and Sheldon Creed. 

Sheldon Creed takes the lead with Austin Hill in second; Brett Moffitt, Christian Eckes, and Ben Rhodes round out the top five.

With one race remaining until the playoffs; Brett Moffitt, Christian Eckes, and Ben Rhodes have clinched a spot in the playoffs.

Ben Rhodes takes fourth from Christian Eckes.

Fifteen to go, Sheldon Creed has the lead with Austin Hill in second; Brett Moffitt, Ben Rhodes, and Christian Eckes round out the top five with 23 turcks on the lead lap.

Ten to go, Sheldon Creed continues to lead the race by over half a second on Austin Hill; Brett Moffitt, Ben Rhodes, and Christian Eckes round out the top five.

Lap 138, Chandler Smith and Johnny Sauter make unscheduled pit stops down pit road.  Smith reported a possible tire issue but Sauter has to take his truck to the garage.

Seven to go, Sheldon Creed has puled out to a lead of a second on Austin Hill; Brett Moffitt, Ben Rhodes, and Christian Eckes round out the top five.

Todd Gilliland and Derek Kraus make contact in a battle for position with Derek Kraus taking the spot. 

The seventh caution flag of the race comes out when Josh Reaume spins out and hits David Ragan after some contact from Matt Crafton.

With only four laps remaining in the race; the finish will go into overtime.

Sheldon Creed’s team is reporting that he cannot complete the race on his current tires and has to make a pit stop.  Some of the drivers come down pit road but many of them stayed out on the track.

After dominating the race, Sheldon Creed was caught speeding on pit road and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.

Staying out on the track, Ben Rhodes brings the field down for the overtime finish.  The first eleven drivers stayed out on the track.  On the inside lane, Derek Kraus gets out in front for the lead with Ben Rhodes in second.

Ben Rhodes takes the white flag. 

It has been 48 races since Ben Rhodes has won a race; but the streak has ended with his first run at Darlington!!
