On August 6, the Native American Music Association made the announcement that the 2020 edition of the Native American Music Awards have been cancelled for this year.

Normally held each November, the NAMA’s honour Native American artists from around North America.

This year would have marked the 20th annual NAMA Awards.

For the past several years the annual NAMA Awards have been held at the Seneca Niagara and Seneca Allegheny Casino properties.  Scheduled to be held at Seneca Niagara this year, NAMA noted that there is a great deal of work required in putting on an awards gala; adding that due to the continued uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 virus, Seneca Niagara is not scheduling any events for the remainder of the year.

With the cancellation of the awards presentations, NAMA has suspended the acceptance of nominee submissions until further notice.
