For the second week in a row NASCAR is making history with the first ever road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Xfinity Series with the Penzoil 150.

Thirty eight drivers will take to the road course with just two short practice sessions.

A relatively short race, stages one and two are just 20 laps each with stage three lasting 22 laps for a total of 62 laps around the course.

JR Motorsports drivers Jeb Burton and Michael Annett will bring the field down for the green flag start of the race with Jeb Burton getting out in front to lead the race. The drivers are getting three wide across the track as they go into the turns.

Brandon Jones challenges Jeb Burton for the lead but so far Burton has held him off.

Jeb Burton , Brandon Jones, and Justin Allgaier make it a three wide battle for the lead on lap number two with Allgaier getting out in front. Austin Cindric has moved from a tenth place start to challenge Justin Allgaier for the lead.

Lap three, Justin Allgaier leads the race with Austin Cindric on his bumper; Brandon Jones is in third.

As they cross the start/finish line to start lap five, Austin Cindric gets around Justin Allgaier to take the lead; Justin Haley Brandon Jones, and Ross Chastain round out the top five.

Since getting out in front of the field, Austin Cindric has pulled out to a lead of over two seconds on Justin Allgaier on lap eight.

The top five are Austin Cindric, Justin Allgaier, Justin Haley, Chase Briscoe, and Ross Chastain.

Lap 10, Austin Cindric has a three second lead on Justin Allgaier with Justin Haley in third over four seconds back.

Lap eleven, Jeffrey Earnhardt brings his smoking car down pit road with a broken trackbar. The track stays green.

Anthony Alfredo makes an unscheduled trip down pit road on lap 12 for an issue with the window net. NASCAR requires that the window nets be properly secured during a race and Alfredo’s was not secured.

Lap 14, Austin Cindric has a three and a half second lead on Justin Allgaier; Justin Haley, Chase Briscoe, and Ross Chastain round out the top five.

Preston Pardis and Josh Williams both got off the track but got moving again and the track stays green.

Jeb Burton is reporting some power steering issues and has to bring his car down pit road.

Brett Moffitt is off the track with Jeffrey Earnhardt out of the race.

Lap 16, Autsin Cindric has increased his lead to nearly five seconds on Justin Allgaier.

Preston Pardus gets turned around and off the track for a second time but the track stays green.

Lap 17, Vinnie Miller has a flat tire and is depositing debris all along the track. NASCAR puts out the first caution flag of the race on lap 18 for debris.

Winning stage one under caution, Austin Cindric earns his fourth stage win of the season. Cindric’s car owner is Roger Penske and Prenske Racing; Penske also owns IMS.

Coming down pit road, AJ Allmendinger was caught speeding and will have to serve a penalty.

Justin Haley is reporting issues with getting his car into second gear.

Chase Brisco wins the race off of pit road, but not all of the drivers made a pit stop.

NASCAR does not race on ovals in wet weather conditions, but they can run a race on road courses with rain tires. Drivers have two sets of rain tires in their pits. The cars must also have a red light in the rear, a de-fogger, and a windshield wiper. With very cloudy skies above, there is the chance of rain in the area. Many of the drivers have never races in the rain.

Brandon Jones brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 24 but it is Chase Briscoe going into turn one that gets out in front for the lead with Austin Cindric right behind him in second; Noah Gragson, Brandon Jones, and Riley Herbst round out the top five.

Austin Cindric is riding on leader Chase Briscoe’s bumper challenging for the lead, but so far, Briscoe has held Cindric off.

Lap 26, Austin Cindric continues to challenge Chase Briscoe for the lead. The son of a racer, leader Chase Briscoe’s dad has won over 150 Sprint car races.

Bayley Currey brings out the caution flag on lap 26 when his car gets stopped on the track.

“American Ninja Warrior” Jade Buford is making his Xfinity Series debut.

Chase Briscoe brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 29 but it is Austin Cindirc who gets out in front for the lead after a push from Riley Herbst.

NASCAR has posted Austin Cindric for jumping the restart. He will have to serve a pass through penalty.

The team has three laps to serve the penalty before NASCAR will no longer score the car. The 22 team is looking at the footage and protesting the ruling.

NASCAR has upheld the penalty and Austin Cindric must come down pit road for the pass through penalty.

When Austin Cindric serves his penalty on lap 32, he gives the lead over to Chase Briscoe; Noah Gragson, Justin Allgaier, Riley Herbst, and Justin Haley round out the top five.

Lap 34, Chase Briscoe continues to lead the race with Noah Gragson in second; Justin Allgaier, Riley Herbst, and Justin Haley round out the top five.

Brandon Jones brings out the caution flag on lap 35 when he takes his flaming car into the grass. Jones had reported some brake issues earlier.

Brandon Brown and Josh Bilicki bring the field down for the two lap shootout to the end of stage two after staying out on the track. Getting three and four wide across the track, the rear bumper on Brandon Brown’s car comes off.

Ryan Sieg is in the lead and getting a challenge from Chase Briscoe.

Lap 39, Chase Briscoe takes the lead.

Noah Gragson gets off the track and in the grass after some contact from Timmy Hill but the track stays green.

Lap 47, Chase Briscoe has a one second lead on Justin Allgaier with AJ Allmendinger, Austin Cindric, and Justin Haley rounding out the top five.

AJ Allmendinger is challenging Justin Allgier for second and takes the spot.

With 13 laps to go, Chase Briscoe has pulled out to a three second lead on AJ Allmendinger with Austin Cindric in third.

Micke Wallace and Brett Moffitt get turned around on the track but they are off the racing course and the track stays green.

Anthony Alfredo gets turned around on the trac but the track stays green.

Ten to go, Chase Briscoe continues to lead the race.

The caution flag comes out for the 44 car of Tommy Joe Martins. He left an axle on the track and was dropping a lot of fluid on the track.

Justin Allgaier was charged with coming out of his pit stall with equipment.

Harrison Burton had to make a second trip down pit road for a loose wheel.

After his pit road penalty, Justin Allgaier has moved up to just outside the top 10 in eleventh.

Chase Briscoe missed the corner and AJ Allmendinger takes the lead with Austin Cindric on his bumper. The two make contact but Allmendinger holds on to the lead.

As AJ Allmendinger and Austin Cindric battle for the lead, Chase Briscoe makes it a three wide battle and retakes the lead with AL Allmendinger in second.

Indiana native Chase Briscoe wins the race for his first IMS win! This is Briscoe’s fifth win of the season and second in a row.

After a burnout on the track, Briscoe and the team follow in the footsteps of fellow Indiana native Tony Stewart and climb the fence… And then they get to kiss the bricks!
