Original Monkees Micky Dolenz and Michael Nesmith were set to tour this month but like thousands of other musicians, they have had to put touring plans on hold in the wake of the Covid-19 virus that has brought much of the nation to a standstill.
The tour was to promote the duos newest album “The Mike and Micky Show Live” which was mixed by Nesmith’s son Christian. The younger Nesmith also played guitar on the album. Dolenz spoke on the album saying, “Christian Nesmith did an amazing job mixing. I’m very pleased with the way (the album) came out.”
His father added, “I’m hopeful that he will get his kudos for this, because he had a stack of tapes and some half-baked ideas from me and Mick and the band. And I had no idea — ‘how the hell is this thing going to go together?'”
Dolenz noted that returning to the road in July is optimistic saying, “I think everybody’s waiting for some sort of a drug … or vaccine. I’ll be honest, I don’t think I’m going to be too crazy about going out unless something of that nature happens.”
Nesmith added, “I’m ready to get up there and do the best job I can. I love this band. I love going out on the road with them”.
