In race two of the west coast swing, the Xfinity Series travels to Fontana and the Auto Club Speedway for the Production Allaince Group 300.

None of the drivers in today’s field have won a race at Auto Club Speedway; ensuring a first time winner at the end of the race. Some drivers are making their debut runs at the track.

After a shortened practice session on Friday due to red flag conditions, 36 drivers take to the track to qualify and later race 300 miles around the two mile track.

With a time of 39.994 seconds, Brandon Jones put his number 19 car on the pole and will bring the field to green. This is Jones’ third career pole win.

NASCAR Cup Series driver Joey Logano and NASCAR Cup Series crew chief Chad Knaus will be joining Adam Alexander in the FOX broadcast booth for the race.

The first caution flag of the race for an on track issue comes out on lap 82 when the number eleven car of Justin Haley gets a flat tire and spins out.

Lap 85, Harrison Burton brings the field down for the green flag restart and takes the lead but a big crash brings out the caution flag. Michael Annett, Brett Moffitt, Brandon Brown, and Joe Graf Jr were all involved in the crash.

JR Motorsports drivers Daniel Hemric and Justin Allgaier brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 90 with Justin Allgaier getting out front for the lead with Daniel Hemric on his bumper.

Matt Mills brings out the caution flag when he gets loose and bumps the wall on lap 91.

After staying out on the track, Justin Haley brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 96 as the drivers get three and four wide across the track. Chase Briscoe gets out in front but the caution flag comes out again for a crash involving Noah Gragson and Ross Chastain after Gragson tries to avoid Anthony Alfredo.

With 52 laps remaining in the race, Chase Briscoe leads the field; Daniel Hemric, Justin Allgaier, Harrison Burton, and Justin Haley round out the top five.

With 49 laps remaining in the race, Chase Briscoe brings the field down for the green flag restart, but it is Daniel Hemric who gets out in front for the lead.

When Daniel Hemric gets loose, Chase Briscoe takes the lead. Brandon Jones has a flat tire and bumps the wall, he is near the top of the track and is having trouble getting dow to get on pit road.

The caution flag comes out with 42 laps to go for debris on the track. This is the seventh caution flag of the race.

Taking no tires, Alex Labbe wins the race off of pit road but Ross Chastain has stayed out on the track and is in the lead.

Justin Allgaier hit a tire on the track and caused some damage to his car.

Austin Cindric’s team is reporting that due to an air gun issue, they didn’t get enough torque in changing the tires.

Austin Hill gets into the wall but gets his car down pit road and the track stays green.

With 29 laps to go, Chase Briscoe and Harrison Burton swap the lead back and forth with Burton getting out in front.

At 19 years old, Harrison Burton is the youngest driver in the top 10.

FOX broadcasters reveal that NASCAR has run an Xfinity race only one other time on Leap Day…and it was also won by a Burton – Ward Burton.

Chase Briscoe brings out the caution flag with 24 laps remaining in the race when he spins out and makes an off road excursion through the grass. Due to his voltage issue, Briscoe cannot get the car moving again. If he has to have a tow truck rescue him, then he will be out of the race.

The car gets moving again but Briscoe is now one lap down.

With only six laps to go, leader Harrison Burton has encountered slower traffic; his lead is down to just over a second on Riley Hrbst.

There are 17 cars on the lead lap.

Five to go, Riley Herbst is only half a second behind leader Harrison Burton.

With a quarter of a second lead, Harrison Burton takes the white flag with team mate Riley Herbst in second.

Joining dad Jeff, rookie driver Harrison Burton wins the race in his first Auto Club start. He joins uncle Ward as the only race winners on February 29.
