Most often when a tribute band performs, they are playing homage to a particular artist. But AM Gold takes the term tribute band to a whole new level by paying homage to an entire decade of music…what they call Yacht Rock – the music from 1975 to 1985.

Attired in white pants and ships commander’s hats, the six piece band took the stage of the Bear’s Den Showroom at the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino on December 6 for a night of Yacht Rock that included the music of Toto, Hall and Oates, Michael McDonald and the Doobie Brothers, Christopher Cross, Van Morrison and Steely Dan.

AM Gold had the gathered crowd rocking in their seats, dancing in the aisles, and singing along from the first notes of “Rosanna” to the final note of “Easy Lover”.

In what became more of a full out party than a concert, AM Gold performed chart topping crowd pleasers including “Ride Like the Wind”, “Reeling in the Years”, “Dancing in the Moonlight”, “What a Fool Believes”, “Peg”, “Maneater”, “Rich Girl”, Takin’ it to the Streets”, “Sailing”, “I Can’t Go for That”, “Careless Whisper”, “The Heat is On”, the theme from “Footloose”, “Africa”, “Wake Me Up Before you Go Go”, and “All Night Long”.

Even after the house lights had come up, fans were clamouring for more Yacht Rock from the New York City band AM Gold.

In Newfoundland they hold Irish music sessiuns known as Kitchen Parties that are little more than a full out jam. AM Gold brings the American rock version of a Kitchen Party with their performances…a party you never want to end.
