There are bands who have been around for a long time and bands who have been together for a short time. But when it all comes together, the difference is unrecognizable.

On November 8 the western New York band The X-statix took the stage at the Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls and performed like seasoned veterans despite being together for only a few months. Fronted by a female lead singer, the five piece band performed music from The Beatles and Jefferson Airplane to Radiohead and Billy Joel.

While the band performs cover tunes, they are an original band when it comes to performing. Sharon has the voice of someone who has had vocal training and each band member frequently gets the chance to shine with a solo during the songs.

Keeping the joint rocking; the set list included “Bad Woman Blues”, “I Feel Good”, “Somebody to Love”, “Compared to What”, “Use Me”, “Come Together”, “Kashmir”, “Unchain My Heart”, “Creep”, “They Raided the Joint”, “New York State of Mind”, and “Tennessee Whiskey”.

The X-statix proved that just because they are a cover band, it doesn’t mean they have to sound like a jukebox; they make every song their own.
