Only seven couples remain on “Dancing with the Stars” and this week the Dance Off returns. Last week four couples earned the same score, but this week the highest scoring couple will get immunity and will not have to participate in the Dance Off.

From now til the end of the season, the couple will have to perform at least two dances.

Sean and Lindsay got the night started off with a nautical themed Jazz dance to “Come Sail Away” by Styx; but on Saturday just two days before the live show, Lindsay’s mother in law passed away and Lindsay had to leave to be with family. Jenna stepped in to take over for Lindsay. Len noted that they keep trying to throw him off the boat and the viewers keep throwing Sean a life preserver. While Len respected Sean’s effort, he said that the Little Mermaid had better feet. Bruno said that Sean didn’t have many Jazz bones in his body; adding Dory in “Finding Nemo” had better direction than Sean, but he always finds his way back to the shore. Carrie Ann said that sometimes it looks like Sean is doing the same dance over and over again but having to learn to dance with someone else served him well. Sean and Jenna earned 20 points for their dance.

Lauren and Gleb perform a Jive to Lauren’s grandma’s favourite artist with “Hound Dog” by Elvis Presley. Lauren was singing during part of the song. Saying that the King himself would have loved the performance, Bruno noted that the dance had a 50’s feel about it but unfortunately Lauren made a few mistakes. Carrie Ann noted that Lauren has strong movement; adding that she loves what Lauren is doing. Noting that there are so many good routines in the competition, Len remarked that Lauren did have a few mistakes; adding that she deserves to be there. Lauren and Gleb scored 24 points for their dance.

Kel and Witney Salsa to “This is How We Do It” by Montel Jordan with Kel starting the dance solo. Carrie Ann said that Kel funked up the Ballroom; adding that he was leading the dance. Len said that the dance was full of rhythm with plenty of junk in the trunk; adding that Kel was large and in charge. Bruno called Kel the main attraction who was leading from the beginning to the end. Co-host Erin Andrews noted that Kel has separated himself. With the first 10 of the season from Bruno, Kel and Witney scored 28 points.

Ally and Sasha dance a Paso Doble to Ally’s newest single “Higher”. Len said that the dance had a good mix of technique and high performance. Bruno said that the dance had it all – amazing shapes, power, and artistry. Saying that Ally commanded everyone’s attention, Carrie Ann said that Ally came out and proved that she is a superstar. Ally and Sasha earned the first perfect score of the season with three 10’s.

After making a trip back home to Alabama, Hannah and Alan performed a Quickstep to the Tom Petty hit “American Girl”. Host Tom Bergeron noted that Hannah looked like she was having a good time. Calling it a game changer, Bruno said that Hannah rocked it. Carrie Ann stood up and gave Hannah a hug; adding that it was the comeback of the season. Len noted that Hannah had a really nice frame with clarity of movement; adding that her feet were on point and it was a fabulous dance. Hannah and Alan scored 29 points for their dance.

Kate and Pasha Jive to the Linda Rondstadt version of “Heatwave”. Noting that dance is a celebration of life, Carrie Ann said that the dance felt like a celebration with lots of energy. Len said that Kate is an absolute joy to watch and gave a joyful performance. Len noted that it wasn’t Kate’s best dance but it wasn’t her worst either. Calling Kate charming, Bruno noted that the dance was tailor made for her abilities. Kate and Pasha scored 24 points for their dance.

In the final dance of the first round James and Emnma performed a Contemporary dance to the Journey hit “Don’t Stop Believing”. James’ parents game to visit during rehearsals. After the dance James ran over and hugged his family; many of whom were in tears. Tom simply said wow. Len compared the dance to a good book saying that it had something for everyone; adding that you were never sure what was going to happen next. Noting that dance is about emotion, Bruno called the dance compelling; adding that the lifts were exquisite with the fluidity of water. Bruno said that James’ musicality was flawless. Carrie Ann called the performance artistry in motion; adding that she had never seen the lifts executed with such finesse and beauty. James and Emma earned the second perfect score of the season and night with a score of 30 points. Since James and Emma have earned the highest cumulative score this season, they had immunity from competing in the Dance Off.

Bruno noted that it was almost impossible to call; adding that the dances had an incredible amount of content. Carrie Ann said that both couples were on fire; adding that they didn’t make the judge’s job easy.
