From time to time major artists have held contests for local bands to be allowed to open for them. The band Bayside is doing something similar for their Interrobang Tour that begins later this fall.

Bayside are looking for 29 unsigned and non-touring bands to open in each of the cities along the tour.

According to Bayside frontman Anthony Raneri, the band wants to give some local bands a chance perform before a house filled with fans and help to validate their efforts as musicians.

Raneri said that the rules are simple, the band must currently be unsigned and not on tour; the band’s musical genre is not important. The winners will be determined by fan votes; the band who gets the most votes, gets to open the show.

Fans can listen to the bands and cast their votes via the Bayside website – The winning bands will be paid, will be allowed to do a soundcheck, and can set up their own merchandise.
