It’s a whole new season of “So You Think You Can Dance”. For season 16, the show has upped the anti with a new set, more cameras, and new judges.

This year the dancers come to Hollywood and audition before a live studio audience.

New this year, executive producer and head judge Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy are joined by choreographer Laurieann Gibson and SYTYCD alum and “America’s Best Dance Crew” champion D-Trix Sandoval.

This season the dancers need three yeses to move on to the Dance Academy.

Dezi Saenz gets the season started off with a Hip-Hop dance and brought the judges to their feet. Dezi got four yeses for a trip to the Dance Academy.

Stephanie Sosa returns from last season and this time she brought her brother Ezra for a Jive. Mary Murphy put the duo on her Hot Tamale train and they will be going to the Dance Academy.

Jesse Sykes, Dayana Madison, and Benjamin Castro also impressed the judges and earned themselves a spot at the Dance Academy.

A shirtless Matthew Deloch returns after not making it in season 14 and worked the crowd into a frenzy with his sensational performance. Laurieann said that Alvin Ailey would have dreamed to have a dancer like him. Matthew got his ticket to the Dance Academy.

Australian dancer Sarah “Smack” McCreanor performed a comedic Jazz dance for her audition to “Boogie Wonderland”. Mary Murphy called Sarah the Lucille Ball of dancing. Sarah got her ticket to the Dance Academy.

Mom of three Amanda Butler performed a Hip-Hop routine with her fellow dancer mom friends. While the judges were impressed with the performance, it wasn’t enough to get a ticket to the Academy. Judge D-Trix joined the ladies on stage for a little dancing.

The final dancer of the night is Gino Cosculluela who has been dancing since he was five and has appeared in an episode of “Dance Moms” opporsite Maddie Ziegler. Gino’s brother and sister are both professional dancers. Nigel calls mom down to help judge the performance. Nigel said that he would be shocked if Gino was not in the top 10 this season. Gino got his ticket to the Dance Academy.
