Sir Elton John sang that “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” but it is also a great night for some rock and roll. On Saturday May 11, western New York rockers Hearts Don’t Lie and DoDriver rocked the house at the Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls, New York.
Hearts Don’t Lie got the night of music started in a set that featured original songs and cover tunes including “White Rabbit”, “Focus”, “I Needed You”, “Truth Always Hurts”, and “Uninvited”.
The five piece band features a female lead singer with the range to cover a wide variety of sings and a father-son duo on guitar.
Hearts Don’t Lie didn’t just get the full house wound up, they got the crowd rocking the joint and shaking the rafters.
Then came DoDriver with the Hard Rock Cafe’s own Jody Velletta on vocals. Velletta and the band – Mark, Mike, and Chris – not only rocked it out; they had the house worked into a frenzy as they danced and sang along.
Performing mostly original songs, the set included old favourites and a new cover tune that was an immediate crowd pleaser.
After performing a set list that included “Another Day”, “White Flag”, “Alright Tonight”, ‘How We Roll”, “Life Changes Everything”, “Dozer”, “Curve of the Earth”, “Always Something There to Remind Me” by Naked Eyes (written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David), “Your Favorite Song”, “We Can Work it Out” by The Betles, “ever After”, and “Watch Me” and closing time approaching; the crowd was far from ready to go home and demanded an encore; which was provided in the form of a rollicking “Read it Wrong”.
It was a night of rock and roll to rival the performances from many of the stars whose memorabilia adorns the walls at the Hard Rock Cafe.
