For the past 50 years, the children’s television program “Sesame Street” has been entertaining and educating young children. This spring, “Sesame Street” is marking the milestone with a national celebration.

The Strong Museum in Rochester, New York is helping Sesame Workshop with a weekend of festivities to mark the occasion on May 18 and 19.

Sesame Street’s” resident fairy Abby Cadabby will be on hand May 18 from 10:15am to 3:15pm and again on May 19 from 12:15pm to 4:15pm to greet guests. There will also be designated photo opportunities for guest with a free ticket.

Activities scheduled for the weekend include readings from the story “The Monster at the End of this Book”, a Super Grover Says game, making a pretend cake, and see artifacts donated by the Henson family.

The Strong will be adding a “Sesame Street” display to their “America at Play” exhibit. The permanent “Sesame Street” exhibit at The Strong were recently renovated and now include Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck stand.
