During each race NASCAR has a maximum speed limit for drivers on pit road but have not extended those rules to on track qualifying…until now.

Beginning with qualifying for the Auto Club 400 this weekend at Auto Club Speedway in California the Monster Energy Cup Series drivers must watch their speeds on pit road.

Drivers who exceed the speed limit while getting on the track to qualify will have to come back down pit road before being allowed to make a qualifying run.

Any driver who exceeds the speed limit getting back on it road after making a qualifying run will have their time disallowed and will have to make another run, time permitting.
