It all began in a galaxy far, far away with a rag tag group of rebels looking to overthrow the tyrannical government.

Along with the light sabers, The Force, and Jedi knights, is a ship, that at one time or another, every “Star Wars” fan has dreamt of flying.

Later this year, that dream can come true…in a matter of speaking….when “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” opens in Disneyland and at Disney World.

Set on 14 acres, Galaxy’s Edge will be the largest single themed adventure created for a Disney theme park.

Based on the newest “Star Wars” films, the adventure is set on the planet of Batuu here visitors can test their Jedi skills with a lightsaber, build a droid, interact with aliens, and pilot the Millennium Falcon including an aerial dog fight. Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, and Chewbacca will all be a part of the new adventure.

Nearly identical in nature, the two theme parks will include a trading outpost, a cantina, and a resistance camp.

The new theme park adventure is first scheduled to open at Disneyland in Anaheim, California this summer and at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida in the fall.

While entry into the adventure is included in the price of an entry ticket, there is an additional fee for constructing a lightsaber or droid. Available droids are modeled after R2-D2 and BB-8

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek noted that visitors will encounter stormtroopers and “Star Wars” themed adult beverages will be available in the cantina; adding, “you will not think you’re in a theme park. Every cast member will be in character, the food and beverage and language will be in story. The merchandise inside the shops won’t be in boxes that say Disney on them. Everything is very, very immersive.”
