True racers are always looking for the chance to drive and as long as it has wheels, they are ready to race.
NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Christopher Bell continued his winning ways and raced his way into the record books on January 19 at the annual Chili Bowl Nationals.
Bell made a last lap pass on leader, and fellow NASCAR driver, Kyle Larson to win the annual midget car race for the third year in a row.
Bell is only the second Chili Bowl racer to win three races in a row – Kevin Swindell won four – and joins Sammy and Kevin Swindell as the only drivers to win three races. Sammy leads with five, son Kevin has four, and Bell now has three.
Noting his pass on Larson for the win, Bell said he, “is the most talented race car driver a lot of us have ever seen. Yeah, it’s pretty surprising that he did slip.”
Losing out on a win for the second year in a row, a disappointed Larson said, “coming to the white, I missed (Turns) 3 and 4 and lost some time. I glanced at the monitor and hoped he wouldn’t be there. He was. I missed the corner and he got inside me.”
Justin Grant, Brady Bacon, and Zach Daum round out the top five.
