The next piece in the NASCAR Silly Season puzzle has fallen into place with the announcement that Camping World Truck Series and Xfinity Series driver John Hunter Nemechek has signed with GMS Racing to driver the Xfinity Series number 23 car full time in the 2019 racing season.
While a number of drivers ran the number 23 car last season, Spencer Gallagher was the primary driver of the car. In October, Gallagher announced that he was retiring at the end of the season to help his father run the organization.
Nemechek ran 18 races in the Xfinity Series last season for Chip Ganassi in the number 42 car where he earned his first Xfinity win at Kansas Speedway.
For the past few seasons, Nemechek has been a full time driver in the Camping World Truck Series where he has shared the track with his father, racing veteran Joe Nemechek.
