With a number of seats becoming empty of NASCAR drivers, the team owners have begun to to fill those spots, some with drivers who have left other teams and others by promoting drivers from the other series.

After not renewing Ryan Newman’s contract, Richard Childress Racing chose to promote Xfinity Series driver Daniel Hemric to drive the number 31 car in 2019. Driving the RCR number 21 car, Hemric is currently one of the 12 drivers in the playoff in the Xfinity Series.

After vacating the number 31 car, Ryan Newman is moving over to Roush Fenway Racing.

JTG Daugherty Racing announced earlier that AJ Allmendinger will not be returning to the number 47 car next season. Saying that they are moving in a different direction, the team has chosen Xfinity Series driver Ryan Preece to take over the driving duties of the 47 car. Preece has been driving part time the past couple of seasons for Joe Gibbs Racing.
