NASCAR goes “Back to the Future” when the Xfinity and Monster Energy Cup Series travels to Darlington for Throwback Weekend. The teams are sporting paint schemes from across the 70 years of racing.

Even NBC is getting in on the throwback weekend with vintage logos.

The Xfinity Series kicks the weekend off with the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200.

The 19 car driven by Brandon Jones failed the inspection process four times; as a result, his team has been assessed a number of penalties, the biggest of which is that Jones will not be allowed to qualify his car. Jones’ Car Chief has been suspended for the race, Jones has been docked 10 driver points, and car owner Joe Gibbs Racing has also been docked 10 car owner points. In addition, after starting the race from the back of the field, Jones will have to serve a pass through penalty after the drop of the green flag. Since he cannot qualify for today’s race, Jones will lose his pit stall selection for the next race and he will lose 30 minutes of practice time for the next race.

Chase Elliott’s car failed inspection three times and will lose his car chief for the race.

After three rounds of qualifying with a time of 29 seconds flat, Ross Chastain won the pole and will bring the field to the green flag.
