It was a hot and crazy weekend for all three NASCAR series last weekend at Chicagoland Speedway where air temperatures were in the 90’s and in car temperatures topped 150 degrees. And to top it off the Monster Energy Cup Series race ended in a beat and bang shootout between the two Kyles – Busch and Larson – in what both drivers called crazy and fun.
But it wasn’t all fun for everyone on the track…
Monster Energy Cup drivers Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin were charged with safety violations during post race inspection.
The number two Penske Racing team and the Joe Gibbs Racing number eleven were found to have loose lug nuts during the inspection.
As a result of the infractions, Brad Keselowski’s crew chief Paul Wolfe and Hamlin’s crew chief Mike Wheeler have been fined $10,000 each.
After the Xfinity Series Overton’s 300 on Saturday, the Joe Gibbs Racing number 19 driven by Brandon Jones was also found to have an improperly secured lug nut. As a result, crew chief Chris Gabehart has been fined $5,000.
