After taking a week off, the Monster Energy Cup Series returns to the track when they head west to Napa Valley and a little road racing with the Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway.

NASCAR has deemed the race an impound race which means that the teams cannot work on their cars after qualifying; as a result, there are adjustments that the teams would normally make to get the car race ready after qualifying that they will not be able to make.

With a road course, the teams will employ spotters in several locations around the track to help their drivers negotiate the course

After only two round of qualifying Kyle Larson wins the pole position for the second year in a row and will bring the field to the green flag.
