With the Monster Energy Cup Series taking the week off, the Xfinity Series will do some rare Sunday racing with the Iowa 250 from Iowa Speedway.

After a few weeks of nasty weather and canceled events; it’s a hot and humid day for the drivers with air temperatures in the 90s and track temperatures approaching 130 degrees.

As group qualifying begins, there are a number of teams trying to get through the inspection process. There are 40 teams at the track so everyone will be in the race.

Christopher Bell who did not make a qualifying run after inspection issues said that it is going to be a lot of fun coming from the back of the field in the race. Ryan Reed also failed to make a qualifying run.

With a time of 24.187; Justin Haley, Shane Lee, and Justin Allgaier ran the exact same time in round two of qualifying.

After three rounds of qualifying Austin Cindric wins his first pole of the season

Stages one and two of the race are 60 laps each with stage three lasting 130 for a total of 250 laps around the 7/8 mile short track.

Polesitter Austin Cindric brings the field down for the green flag start of the race from the outside lane and edges out Daniel Hemric for the lead.

The top five are Austin Cindric, Daniel Hemric, Brandon Jones, Elliott Sadler, and Cole Custer as the drivers are already three and four wide across the track/

The first caution of the race comes out when Garrett Smithley cuts a tire and brushes the wall on lap three.

Only three laps into the race and Christopher Bell and Ryan Reed have already passed half the field after starting the race at the back of the field when they failed to make a qualifying run due to  inspection issues. Christopher Bell is in 22nd and Ryan Reed is in 20th place.

Once again taking the outside lane, Austin Cindric brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap eight and holds on to the lead as drivers are getting three wide on the restart.

The top five are Austin Cindric, Brandon Jones, Daniel Hemric, Ryan Truex, and Justin Allgaier.

Lap 12 Austin Cindric has a lead of nearly half a second on Brandon Jones; Daniel Hemric, Justin Allgaier, and Tyler Reddick round out the top five.

The drivers are three wide throughout the field.

Christopher Bell is now in 12th place.

Lap 16 Austin Cindric has a half second lead on Bradnon Jones.

Lap 18 all 40 drivers are on the track and on the lead lap.

Lap 20 Austin Cindric has pulled out to a lead of nearly a second on Brandon Jones; Justin Allgaier, Daniel Hemric, and Tyler Reddick round out the top five.

Lap 23, Austin Cindric has increased his lead to over a secnd and a half on Brandon Jones; Justin Allgaier, Daniel Hemric, and Tyler Reddick round out the top five. Christopher Bell is closing in on the top 10 in eleventh place.

Lap 28, Christopher Bell is now in the top 10. Austin Cindric has a lead of nearly two seconds on Brandon Jones.

Lap 35, Austin Cindric has a lead of over a second and half on Justin Allgaier with 27 cars on the lead lap. Christopher Bell is in ninth place.

Lap 43, Austin Cindric has a one second lead on Justin Allgaier with Daniel Hemric, Brandon Jones, and Cole Custer rounding out the top five. Christopher Bell is in seventh.

Lap 47, Austin Cindric has increased his lead to nearly a second and a half on Justin Allgaier.

Ten to go, with 24 cars on the lead lap, Austin Cindric continues to dominate the race with a lead of over a second on Justin Allgaier.

Lap 51 Austin Cindric gets four wide as he encounters lapped traffic.

Lap 53, Justin Allgaier has pulled to within less than a second on leader Austin Cindric.

Lap 56, Elliott Sadler brings his car down pit road for an unscheduled pit stop with a flat tire.

Lap 57, Austin Cindric is only a quarter of a second behind leader Austin Cindric.

Lap 58 Justin Allgaier passes Austin Cindric to take the lead.

With a pit stop of 15 and a half seconds, Justin Allgaier wins the race off of pit road.

Justin Allgaier brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 70 and holds on to the lead of the race.

Lap 72 the top five are Justin Allgaier, Daniel Hemric, Austin Cindric, Cole Custer, and Christopher Bell.

Lap 73, there are 22 cars on the lead lap. Justin Allgaier has a lead of nearly half a second on Daniel Hemric.

Lap 77, Justin Allgaier has a half second lead on Daniel Hemric; Cole Custer, Austin Cindric, and Christopher Bell round out the top five.

Pit road reporters reveal that Elliott Sadler’s flat tire resulted in a brush against the wall and a broken sway bar arm that has left him four laps down.

Lap 90 Daniel Hemric challenges Justin Allgaier for the lead with Cole Custer on their bumpers in third. Christopher Bell has finally gotten around Austin Cindric for fourth place.

Lap 92 the top five are Justin Allgaier, Daniel Hemric, Cole Custer, Christopher Bell, and Austin Cindric.

Lap 95 Justin Allgaier has puled out to a lead of nearly a half a second on Daniel Hemric; Cole Custer, Christopher Bell, and Austin Cindric round out the top five.

Lap 99, there are 21 cars on the lead lap.

Daniel Hemric’s team reports increasing water temperatures with debris on the grille.

Lap 102, Justin Allgaier is in the lead with Daniel Hemric, Cole Custer, Christopher Bell, and Austin Cindric rounding out the top five.

Lap 106, Justin Allgaier continues to lead the race with Daniel Hemric in second; Christopher Bell, Cole Custer, and Austin Cindric round out the top five.

Daniel Hemric’s car is now free of the debris on the grille thanks to the help of a lapped car.

Lap 110, Justin Allgaier has a one second lead on Daniel Hemric; Christopher Bell, Cole Custer, and Austin Cindric round out the top five.

Lap 114, Justin Allgaier’s lead is still a second over Daniel Hemric with Christopher Bell, Cole Custer, and Austin Cindric rounding out the top five.

Three to go in stage two, Justin Allgaier holds on to the lead with Christopher Bell in second nearly a second behind.

Cole Custer wins the race off of pit road with Justin Allgaier in second with the drivers getting three wide coming off of pit road.

Ty Majeski, Ryan Reed, and Jeremy Clements were all caught speeding on pit road and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.

Cole Custer brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three on lap 129 but Just Allgaier edges out Custer to retake the lead from the inside lane.

Lap 131 the top five are Justin Allgaier, Cole Custer, Christopher Bell, Daniel Hemric, and Austin Cindric.

Lap 134, Christopher Bell challenges Justin Allgaier for the lead of the race as the two drivers go nose to nose with Justin Allgaier finally edging out for the lead on lap 139.

Lap 150, Christopher Bell again challenges Justin Allgaier for the lead.

With 100 laps to go, the top five are Justin Allgaier, Christopher Bel, Cole Custer, Daniel Hemric, and Austin Cindric.

Lap 152 Justin Allgaier’s lead is just a tenth of a second on Christopher Bell.

Lap 155, Justin Allgaier holds on to his lead of only a tenth of a second over Christopher Bell.

Lap 159, Justin Allgaier has increased his lead to three tenths of a second on Christopher Bel; Cole Custer, Daniel Hemric, and Austin Cindric round out the top five.

Lap 163, Christopher Bell has once again caught Justin Allgaier and is challenging for the lead.

Lap 171, Justin Allgaier has held on to his lead and is three tenths of a second ahead of second place driver Christopher Bell; Cole Custer, Daniel Hemric, and Austin Cindric round out the top five.

Seventy five to go, there are 21 cars on the lead lap with Justin Allgaier in the lead.

The drivers cannot compete the race without making a pit stop.

Lap 180, leader Justin Allgaier has encounter lapped traffic and gets trapped, Christopher Bell passes Allgaier for the lead.

Lap 181 Justin Allgaier passes Christopher Bell to retake the lead.

With 67 laps remaining in the race, the top five are Justin Allgaier, Christopher Bell, Cole Custer, Daniel Hemric, and Austin Cindric.

With 61 laps remaining in the race, there are only 17 cars on the lead lap.

John Hunter Nemechek made a pit stop with a tire issue.

Lap 195, there are 15 cars on the lead lap with Justin Allgaier in the lead just under half a second on Christopher Bell.

Lap 197, Christopher Bell passes Justin Allgaier for the lead but the caution flag comes out for Chad Finchum when he brushes the wall.

When the caution fag comes out, the field is set by the electronic timers; as a result, Justin Allgier is named the leader of the race.

With a pit stop of 14.7 seconds, Justin Allgaer wins the race off of pit road.

Justin Allgaier brings the filed down for the green flag restart on lap 205 but is in a three way battle for the lead as Cole Custer, Austin Cindric, and Justin Allgaier get three wide.

Lap 207 Justin Allgaier is in the lead; Cole Custer, Christopher Bell, Austin Cindric, and Daniel Hemric round out the top five.

Lap 208, Christopher Bell challenges Justin Allgiaer for the lead, but Allgaier holds on to the top spot.

Lap 210, Justin Allgaier has a lead of nearly half a second Cole Custer; Christopher Bell, Daniel Hemric, and Brandon Jones round out the top five.

In a crossover move, Cole Custer retakes second place as he and Christopher Bell battle for second place.

Lap 213 Justin Allgaier has pulled out to a lead of a second while Christopher Bell and Cole Custer battled for second; Daniel Hemric and Brandon Jones round out the top five.

Lap 215 the top five are Justin Allgaier by over a second, Christopher Bell, Cole Custer, Daniel Hemric,and Brandon Jones.

Lap 217, there are 17 cars on the lead lap with Justin Allgier out in front by over a second.

Lap 220, Justin Allgaier holds on to his one second lead on Christopher Bell; Cole Custer, Daniel Hemric, and Brandon Jones round out the top five.

Lap 233, Justin Allgaier’s lead is down to less than a second over Christopher Bell with 17 cars on the lead lap.

Lapp 225 Christopher Bell has closed the gap on leader Justin Allgaier to half a second.

Lap 238, the top five are Justin Allgaier, Christopher Bel, Cole Custer, Daniel Hemric, and Brandon Jones.

Lap 230, Justin Allgaier’s lead is down to less than half a second on Christopher Bell.

Lap 232 the caution flag comes out when Brandon Hightower hits the wall. The teams have no fresh tires on pit road.

Taking the outside lane, Justin Allgaier brings the field down for the green flag restart with only 12 laps remaining in the race. Justin Allgaier edges out to take the lead.

Lap 239, the top five are Justin Allgaier, Brandon Jones, Christopher Bell, Daniel Hemric, and Cole Custer.

Christopher Bell gets around Brandon Jones to take second place.

Lap 240 Justin Allgaier is in the lead with Christopher Bell in second; Daniel Hremric, Cole Custer, and Brandon Jones round out the top five.

Lap 244, Justin Allgaier has a lead of just under half a second on Christopher Bel. He has led 177 laps so far.

Four to to, Justin Allgaier has a lead of only two tenths on Christopher Bell; Daniel Hemric, Cole Custer, and Brandon Jones round out the top five.
