In the middle of the Monster Energy Cup Series racing season last year, Matt Kenseth began to suspect that he would not be returning to the number 20 car for Joe Gibbs Racing. When the season ended, Kenseth indeed found himself out of a job and unsure of what he would do.
Kenseth won 15 races in five years with JGR.
With the 2018 Monster Energy Cup Series a quarter of the way through, Kenseth has found himself a new ride…at least part time…for Jack Roush and Roush Fenway Racing.
Kenseth will be sharing the driving duties in the number six car with Trevor Bayne for the remainder of the 2018 season.
The 46 year old Kenseth spent 13 seasons with Roush before moving over the Joe Gibbs Racing in 2013. He has 24 wins and a Monster Energy Cup Series championship with Roush.
