On a cold and misty Saturday (a 50 degree drop from Friday’s practice) in Texas the Xfinity Series returns to the track for the My Bariatric Solutions 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.

As the first of three rounds of qualifying begins over one third of the field has yet to make it through inspection. Qualifying had barely begun when NASCAR put out the red flag to check track conditions.

After a delay of about five minutes, NASCAR reopens the track and the drivers return to qualifying.

With 5:17 remaining in round one, NASCAR again throws the red flag for moisture on the track.

Forty-two teams brought cars to the track, which means two teams will not make the race.

The red flag delays have aided the drivers who were trying to get through inspection and making it possible for them to get out on the track to qualify.

After another short delay, NASCAR has puled the red flag and the drivers can again proceed to qualify.

The oldest driver on the NASCAR circuit, 76 year old Morgan Shepherd will run in his 1,000th race when the green flag waves. He is only the eighth driver in NASCAR history to do so.

Due to the weather, NASCAR has suspended the remaining two rounds of qualifying and the field will be set according to first rounds speeds.

Ryan Blaney wins the pole and will bring the field to the green flag.
